Can anyone provide a link to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools website that shows the schools that are under consideration for regional accreditation under their agency?

    There are four.

    Three are community colleges:

    * H. Councill Trenholm State Technical College in Montgomery, AL
    * Ogeechee Technical College in Statesboro, GA
    * Sowela Technical Community College in Lake Charles, LA

    One is a medical school:

    * Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke, VA

    1. Go the SACS "Membership and Directory" page.
    2. Download the "Accredited and Candidate Institution List".
    3. Turn to page 20 of this list to see the "Candidate Institutions". They are the four listed in Post #2 above.
    4. Repeat process periodically to get an updated list. The current list is dated December 2013.

But this list only shows "Candidate" schools. Regional accreditation agencies typically don't grant "Candidate" status unless they are reasonably confident that the school is successfully on track to achieve full accreditation. So the four listed schools are very likely to achieve full accreditation over the next few years.

There are probably other schools that have applied for accreditation with SACS that have not yet achieved "Candidate" status, and which are not on this list. I think that RA agencies may keep the names of applicant schools private until they have achieved "Candidate" status.

Obviously it would be embarrassing for a school to be publicly rejected for accreditation. I think that's why the RA agencies tend to be secretive about the early stages of the accreditation process: otherwise the fear of public humiliation might discourage schools from applying.

So the agencies conduct the early phases of the accreditation process in secret. They don't announce the names of applicant schools, except when they have determined that the school is on track to succeed. They don't want to advertise the failures.
