I've heard of SAQA from South Africa but I've never heard of this other thing. Is it an acronym ripoff? It's done with universities and it's done with accreditors . . . What's it supposed to be anyway?

Thanks, Dr. Ram. It looks like an attempt at establishing a private quality assurance organization /accreditor for business & management schools in the SAARC countries. It is run from a legit school, the University of Hyderabad. So far, they've held a dozen workshops, with people from some pretty influential organizations (AACSB among them) attending.

AMDISA, the parent, says it sees a need for non-government accreditation for South Asian schools of management, and that's the reason for SAQS. The report goes on to day that so far, 10 Indian schools and 3 in Pakistan have been SAQS-accredited.

It's not for me to judge just how necessary SAQS is. It does appear to have made some good affiliations. The SAQS -accredited schools are here and the list contains a couple of schools we've discussed. List of Schools Granted SAQS Accreditation

Some of them, e.g. IILM Institute are fairly well-known. We've also discussed one of the others recently - Welingkar. The parent organization, AMDISA is here: www.amdisa.org
