I graduated from high school a little over a year ago. I started community college but I had to moved out because of unfavorable circumstances so I tried to work and attend school. I didn't do to well because I was unstable so I dropped classes and failed one. The only class I passed is chemistry. Now that I have a stable office job, I realize I really need to get a degree. I have several questions I hope can get answers for.

I want to get either a bachelor or master in education through distance learning/online university. However I don't really know which school is good or have a good reputation. I contacted University of Phoenix but I heard awful stories about it. The advisor was really forceful and keep on calling me nonstop.

Also, when I attended community college I failed a class and dropped almost 50% of the credits I initially enrolled in. I know I was on academic probation and I might have lost financial aides. I was wondering if that is permanent?

Last question is will a degree earned through online university be seen as inferior than degree earned through traditional school? What does employers generally think of it?

    Thank you!

Virtually every state in the USA offers a Bachelors degree in Education through distance learning. Start close to home. Be aware that some schools charge extra if you're out-of-state, some do not. The money you lost is gone forever. You can reclaim your financial aid status but you may need to answer some questions about what happened.

Also, note that just about every, possibly every, bachelor's degree in K-12 education in the U.S. will require a student teaching placement. This will almost certainly not be something you can do from your own site on your own time. Expect it to be on site at a bricks and mortar K-12 school facility, during school hours. My understanding is that a typical student teaching placement might run full-time or close for about a semester*at least. The school (probably through their board/district) would have to agree to take you on and provide supervision, and your college/university would have to approve the school (board/district).

A degree earned through online education is no less than that which is earned through traditional education. All that the employers will look into is how well you impress them with your presentation and your willingness to learn more. I dropped studies when I felt I needed a break and joined back some years later to continue with my paralegal education. There wasn't much difference and I am glad about my decision to continue with the education.
