The new e-newsletter for StraighterLine states, about one of their new partner schools, "Herzing University is the only woman-owned accredited university in the United States and is WBE certified by the National Woman Business Owners Corporation (NWBOC)."

Did Janice Bryant Howroyd sell California National University for Advanced Studies, a longtime DETC school focused on engineering and business subjects? She appears on their website today as Chairman of the Board.

    Any others?

Maybe she's not the majority shareholder, although she is certainly the Chair of the Board and another family member is President . I do know she has made a gift of $10,000,000 to another school - USC College of Letters Arts and Sciences.

She does, however, own ACT-1 which is a very large chain (75+ offices, I think) of employment agencies.

From a 2005 article on the USC College's site:

"Howroyd, the owner and chief executive officer of ACT-1, a personnel services company based in Torrance, Calif., was recently appointed to the USC College Board of Councilors"

Here it is: Janice Bryant Howroyd Gives $10 Million to USC College > News > USC Dornsife

    So - to sum up:

Janice Bryant Howroyd serves on the Board of at least two colleges and has given $10,000,000 to USC College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. She owns and is CEO of a major business - ACT-1. I am not sure of the extent of her ownership in CNUAS.
