    Greetings,

Is the American Association for Higher Education and Accreditation a recognised body?

    About AAHEA

No. It is listed by neither the US Department of Education nor CHEA. You can look it up.

The best way to determine whether a school in the U.S. has recognized accreditation is to search CHEA's database, which is easy and free.

It certainly isn't recognized as an accreditor by the US Dept of Education or by CHEA.

The 'Chronicle of Higher Education' did a very scathing story about this thing way back on August 25, 2008. Unfortunately, the full text is only available to 'Chronicle' subscribers.

The bottom line quotation from the article is this:

The story reports that the AAHEA's owner is a Florida hypnotherapist who apparently has been awarding his own doctorates in that subject.

If Degreeinfo readers want a little cheap entertainment, do a search for schools boasting AAHEA "accreditation". I saw Bircham International U, Berkeley International U, California University FCE, Breyer State U and many others.
