    Hello all,
I am new to the forum, and hoping I posted this in the right area:)

I am transferring to a CSU this fall. I have met briefly with a counselor from the CSU who told me they do not accept the math courses I took at University of Phoenix based on the course number I gave her. For the record, I took MTH/208 & MTH/209 back in 2004. The titles are College Mathematics I & II.
I am of the understanding that CSU's require College Algebra & above for transfer. Here is the course description:
    *College Mathematics II – MTH209 (3 credits)
This course continues the demonstration and examination of various algebra concepts that was begun in MTH 208: College Mathematics I. It assists in building skills for performing more complex mathematical operations and problem solving than in earlier courses. These concepts and skills should serve as a foundation for subsequent quantitative business coursework. Applications to real-world problems are emphasized throughout the course.
    -polynomials
    -factoring
    -rational & radical expressions
    -quadratic equations & functions
    -nonlinear functions, sequences, and series*

Here is what I want to know:
-Do you think I have grounds for an appeal based on this information?
-Does anyone know the course appeal process for CSU's?
-Is this worth my time to fight, or should I bite the bullet and take yet another math course?

*as an additional piece of information, they are accepting most of my other University of Phoenix coursework*

    Any help is appreciated!

Based on the descriptions you provided and based upon my experience, these courses will typically be seen as remedial prerequisites for standard level college Math courses. Polynomials, quadratic equations, etc. are topics I covered in High School. This issue is not related to Phoenix but to the level of the courses. I'm sure that there's an appeals process but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.
