It's tough to read because it's so small, but it looks like a letter, not a diploma.

I think it's gone, but you could try here: RR 2 Independence, MO 64016 (816) 249-5933

I'm serious. Never accredited - appears to be defunct. I presume it indulged in sales of honorifics only - Albert Einstein Bronze Medal of Peace Awards were also available here. Why do I think it's defunct? It's here on P. 1859 in the Kansas Secretary of State's register as a "forfeited corporation" - i.e. failed to file its corporate returns. http://www.kssos.org/Pubs/register/2007/Vol_26_No_49_December_6_2007_p_1841-1884.pdf

I found several pages of Google Listings - mostly seem (to me) to be a self-aggrandizing type of people, generally overseas, who likely "collect" awards, titles etc. - whatever they can buy. Not my type. If anyone is interested, I could tell you where to purchase similar honorary degrees, a bogus Knighthood or an Albert Schweitzer Award -- but I won't!

Someone else can do the work next time - I'm outa here. These places are not what this board is for.

Johann - No one has a gun to your head. If you don't want to do it then just don't do it.

From Johann's post of 11-09-11: "Right. Made my choice - better off without DI. Bye."

Face it Johann, you love us and just can't stay away.

Uh...oh, all right - but later. Right now, I have to go mourn Kim Jong-il.

The first I heard of them was early 1980s, when the Council of Europe, in Strasbourg, France published their first 'official' list of diploma mills (through their Section for Educational Research and Documentation, headed by Dr. Michael Vorbeck.) Scicluna was at the top of that list, which I dutifully reported in the next edition of Bear's Guide. That produced some very angry letters from the man in charge, Baron Dingli-d'Attard of Malta, with all manner of threats about being sued in the Maltese courts (where he was a person of great importance). A retraction was demanded. Being young(er) and foolish(er), as it were, and not wanting to make a Maltese cross, I printed a rather bland retraction in the next edition, but as far as I know, the Council of Europe never retracted its claim.

There was a close link with International University of Missouri, another non-wonderful institution.

A Google search today shows that the good Baron died a couple of years ago, survived by his daughter, the Baroness (of Kansas City).

    Hi

Just back - darn hard to get a flight out of Pyongyang these days. :) So - I was hoping for a sailboat, but had to take a raft from Haeju. Thanks for the hug, Kizmet!

Dr. Bear - your posting sheds a bit of light on a couple of things. Didn't this school's US home, Independence MO, also feature the HQ of The International University of Missouri? Besides the Independence MO listing (forfeited corporations) address, I also found an old Kansas City Listing. As strange as it might (at first) appear, I believe the address was c/o a sorority.

International University (Missouri) seemed to be in the business of permitting other schools to use their name and permission to operate (negligible in Missouri), often using their name, along with a geographical addition ("International University of Sri Lanka") or descriptive words ("International University of Security" or something similar). I assume Scicluna International University was in this model.

The one time I visited the umcampus (1979), I found a small white frame house, with Chancellor John Johnston sitting in a rocking chair on the porch. Clearly not a sorority house.

...Rockin' since 1973. Dr. Johnston is still Chancellor, according to Int. Uni. website. The RR 2 Independence add. of Scicluna International might have been on Heidelberger Rd. I have no idea whether or not that address is also connected with the other school. It appeared from State Secretary's files that this US incarnation of Scicluna International failed to file its corp. returns somewhere around 2007 IIRC.

Can't for the life of me find the other Kansas City address. It turned out to be c/o a Three-Greek-Letter sorority (no person named) and I can't find the link anywhere now. If I do, I'll post it. I believe the parent organization is still alive in Malta, but I don't want to make a Maltese cross either. (Classic Bear remark - thanks! )

Degrees at all levels offered through correspondence study. Claims accreditation, but not from any recognized agency. The catalogue indicates that there are campuses all over the world: Japan, Mexico, India, Australia, etc. No faculty are named in the literature, nor is the source of the degrees of the staff members given. There is, or has been, an affiliation with the Sussex College of Technology, which has been identified as a degree mill by every major British newspaper and educational authority. This affiliation is vigorously defended by International University's vice president and dean of faculties, Professor Dr. Marcel Dingli-Attard de'baroni Inguanez, Ph.D. as being "legal" and "valid" since the Sussex degrees "are definitely accepted in many countries." (I am not aware of any.) International University absorbed Mayer University in the late 1970s. See also: Marquis Guiseppe Scicluna International University Foundation. In 1993, in some literature, accreditation was still being claimed from the International Accrediting Commission, which was shut down by the Missouri Attorney General several years ago.
