I'm just glad someone is looking to get into a trade. No help to offer but I'm sure they have something out there.

I just Googled "Scholarship for Cosmetology" and looked at the links - MANY different scholarships. Hairdressing - relatively few.

Plenty more....some of these can apply to hairdressing students too. Definitely careers that aren't going to go out of style any time soon!

It may vary depending on where you are located and what school you are attending (or planning to attend).

Here in North Carolina, several of the community colleges have cosmetology programs. All of the community colleges have Financial Aid offices which have a wealth of information on loans, grants, and scholarships.

 

If the person is unemployed, they should call their local one-stops (WIA - Workfoce Investment Act - thanks Kennedy) for the possibility of having their training paid for. Each state calls their versions of one-stops different names - Just tell the person to call their local State employment office and ask about WIA retraining.
