No report has been posted yet, but I've been checking the download directory every few days, and noticed that the DETC 2011-2012 Directory of Accredited Institutions has been uploaded, and it includes none of the schools on the New Applicants list.

They've now posted their report on the DETC website:

    http://detc.org/downloads/bulletins/2011/No.%2010%20-%20Report%20from%20the%20Accrediting%20Commission.pdf

    Highlights:

No new schools were granted first time accreditation

    New grad degrees:
Aspen University, Doctorate of Science in Computer Science
California Cost University, Master of Business Administration in Health Care Management
University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences , Master of Occupational Therapy

    Resignations from accreditation:
    Air University Extension Course Program
    Universidad FLET

    First-time applicants for accreditation:
    Apollos University, Huntington Beach, CA
California Institute of Arts and Technology, San Diego, CA
    Grace Communion Seminary, Glendora, CA
    Hawthorn University, Whitehorn, CA
    Shiloh University, Kalona, IA
    University of Fairfax, Vienna, VA

Noticeably absent from the list of new applicants (although their absence is not altogether surprising given their history) is Trinity College, Newburgh. Also Nations U is still not on the list.

Revision of original post title: Apparently the meeting was actually June 2-3 according to the report, unlike what it says on the Meetings & Reports area of the website.

Maybe DETC does not want them to charge anyone $895/credit (yes, that's what they charge right now for an unaccredited degree)...

Heh, yes, that's rather more than I'd pay. But even though DETC schools tend to be lower cost, I don't think DETC has a maximum tuition rate requirement, do they?

I feel you on the rooting thing, but right now if I were to be interested in any unaccredited InfoSec school it'd be SANS; simply because their certs have some real value even if the degree isn't accredited.

For practical purposes, the SANS Technology Institute is accredited. That's because it has official "Candidate" status for Regional Accreditation with MSCHE.

RA agencies don't grant "Candidate" status to a school unless they expect it to become accredited. So in practice, a degree from an RA Candidate school is generally treated just like a regular RA degree.

For example, the US Dept. of Educations database of recognized institutions lists STI as "pre-accredited" by MSCHE. Such "pre-accreditation" counts for purposes of Federal recognition, which means that STI students are eligible for Federal financial aid. If STI was totally unaccredited, it wouldn't be in this database.

DETC, in contrast, does not have the ability to "pre-accredit" schools in this way. A DETC applicant school is no different from an unaccredited school, until it gets full DETC accreditation. But an RA applicant school gets recognition and respect as soon as it achieves "Candidate" status, which may be years before it receives full accreditation.

Why do schools resign their accreditation? I was hoping at some point in the future to enroll in an Air University online program (I'm in the Civil Air Patrol).
