    Hello there,

I am from Germany and have a problem to find a distance learning university with a DBA program in the U.S. that is recognized here.

Is there a online university with national AND regional accreditation that offers DBA program?

There are regionally accredited distance DBA programs and there are nationally accredited distance DBA programs; though none to my knowledge offering doctorial degrees where the issuing institution is both RA and NA.

Two universities that come to mind that are both RA and NA are:
Western Governors University and American Public University /American Military University; however, neither offer doctorial degrees to date.

I've heard that German universities only recognize doctorates in business from American universities that are AACSB accredited. I'm not sure this is the case, but you should check before you make a decision -- in your special case, regional accreditation alone may be insufficient for your needs.

    Steve,

This International Journal of Doctoral Studies (2009) article may offer insight /reinforcement of your suggestion to the OP as regards Germany’s acceptability of B-school professional doctorates (DBA) earned outside Germany (e.g., requiring AACSB accreditation) (?).

It is stated on Page 8 of the document that you hyperlinked that:

"In addition, Nova Southeastern University (see Table 5) is currently in the later stages of the AACSB accreditation process and will, therefore, likely join this group in the near future."

It appears that NSU Business School will receive this accreditation sooner than had I expected.

I’m hesitant as to how the authors could deduce this (AACSB) as regards Nova Southeastern (?). Perhaps they have insider information …

One of the authors is an associate professor at the University of South Florida. He holds a Harvard doctorate. Perhaps, he has insider information. I am not sure why they made that assertion in a journal that is reviewed and read by their peers.

Maybe they read degreeinfo. In September 2006, there was a thread about Nova Southeastern pursuing AACSB accreditation:

It's now 2011 though, and Nova Southeastern does not appear to be listed as an AACSB-accredited school. They are an AACSB member, but not AACSB accredited.

AACSB accreditation is not the same as ACBSP accreditation. It takes years to get it. It takes between 4 years and 10 years to achieve. NSU was just talking about AACSB in 2006. I believe that the school started the process in 2008.

Nova Southeastern's "Accreditation" webpage currently states:

This statement was noted in another degreeinfo thread in April 2010. However, old versions of the same page are stored at archive.org. These show no mention of AACSB in April 2009 or December 2008.

So the statement about AACSB was apparently added to NSU's "Accreditation" page between April 2009 and April 2010.

Both the archived April 2009 page and the current page also note that NSU is accredited by IACBE.

Aren't we saying the same thing? I was only trying to say that it hasn't been long that NSU started the process. They were talking about in the past but they are now in the process. Membership of AACSB means nothing but you have to be a member to apply for accreditation. For the record, I am an alumnus but my doctorate is not from Huizenga Business School.
