Does anyone have a contact for the old Clayton University of St Louis? I am going to need a copy of my transcripts.

    Thanks.

Sadly, I am fairly confident they are not available. After Clayton closed in Missouri, and resurfaced in Asia, somehow their files and records came into the hands of Ray Chasse, operator of several non-wonderful schools in Louisiana. He offered a Clayton transcript service for a while, but after his death, the whereabouts of the materials became unknown. At least one of the Chasse schools, American Coastline, ended up somehow in the same orbit as some of the Saint Regis folk. Clayton founder Eugene Stone is said to be alive and well in Hong Kong (or nearby] but he has been totally unresponsive to many urgent and sincere requests for information.

For the record, Clayton was unquestionably legitimate and legal, during its sojourn in Missouri, being one of the few unaccredited schools that qualified for federal loans and inclusion in official directories, through their success in the Dept. of Educations three-by-three and, later, four-by-four program, in which a total of sixteen Clayton graduates had their degrees or credits accepted by at least four regionally-accredited universities.

I get inquiries about this matter every month or two, and regret I can't help. If anyone comes up with relevant information, please post it here. --John Bear

Thank you for that information. Dr. Stone did not have the financial backing that Walden University had and could not survive. He really meant well and was trying to do the right thing. Now every major university and college in the world has on-line courses and degrees.

Legitimate? Certainly. But there were contemporaneous news accounts regarding Clayton's very uneven academic standards. Of course, that could be said about a number of schools that went on to accreditation as well.
