There is a lot of talk about the French VAE system on this forum, but it all seems to evolve around the Robert de Sorbon school.

Does anybody know of a respected French institute which offers degrees at a distance via VAE based on prior formal education, with something like a phone or e-mail interview if an interview is necessary at all?

I currently have an Associate's Degree from Excelsior College and a Paralegal Certificate from Rutgers, and I will soon have a BSL from Excelsior College. I want to get my education recognized in France, and I know that they have an ENIC system for recognition, but what I really want to do is find a respectable French school which will evaluate my degree and award a French diploma based on that. I think that would be much more portable in the European system than an ENIC recommendation.

Surely there must be a school out there which would at least award a one-year Diplome Universitaire in English based on the fact that someone has done four years of education solely in the English language. Does anybody have any knowledge of this subject?

Thank you in advance for any replies.

I know a Lady who had Colorado State University BA.

She got VAE toward a different major and completed a degree at University of Paris. They used VAE to grant the portion of the credit and had to attend the University for 9 months.

I don't remember what her specialty was. Maybe Social Science.

You are right when you say most of the conversationhas focused on Robert de Blahblahblah but, as I understand it, the VAE process is not rare in French universities. This is what has given the Blahblahblah some legs to totter around on. I think that if you surf through some French university websites you will find some that offer this as a process. Will they award you some equivalent diploma without your having taken ANY courses at their school? I'm guessing that the answer is no but I really don't know that that's the case.

Thanks for the information guys. I just e-mailed the Universite de Lyon and will see if they will accept my prior education and award a D.U. in American Law.

Lerner, wow! Nine months extra to put something from the real Sorbonne on a resume isn't bad! :D
