I see Grantham University will have initial accreditation visit on 9/27.

    Some others.

Colorado State University-Global Campus - This one I thought it was already accredited ????

Seems like a lot of DETC schools are going NA to RA. Is this a good or bad thing? Is American Pathways is going NA to RA as well.

For the longest time, no school had ever made the jump from NA to RA. (A few had pursued both at the same time, with DETC accreditation always coming in first.) Then AMU broke the bubble, making me wonder if they were the only "RA-able" school accredited by DETC. (I thought not, but why hadn't the others made the move?) Well, they are beginning to do so. This bodes poorly for DETC for a few reasons.

First, it illustrates the inferiority of the DETC badge, since some DETC-accredited schools are choosing a better (RA) form of accreditation.

Second, it makes DETC look like a mere stepping stone for some DL schools. Get your DETC accreditation now, then pursue "real" (RA) accreditation when you're ready.

Finally, losing it's top-flight (for them) schools will only weaken DETC. (And even if those schools decide to retain DETC accreditation, DETC will still have lost them to RA.)

DETC's accreditation processes, standards, and results might be superior to RA. But the value of their accreditation most certainly is not. I don't see how they change that.
