accreditation status

    what is the accreditation status of atlantic international university. how recognized internationally are their degrees. why do people enroll though they are not accredited by the USA accrediting bodies. and why are they not submitting themselves to accreditation

    Because they appear to be a degree mill. They link to some opencourseware, have flat fees for degrees, and award them based upon life experience.

    It's pretty clear on their accreditation page where they say:

    ATLANTIC INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY IS NOT ACCREDITED BY AN ACCREDITING AGENCY RECOGNIZED BY THE UNITED STATES SECRETARY OF EDUCATION.

    So, they are unaccredited, as you've noted. Why do people enroll? Many probably are unaware of the importance of accreditation. Others don't care about accreditation and just want a cheap degree to put on their resume without doing much (any?) work.

    Some of it does sound like standard millspeak, but they don't seem to be hiding anything:

    Although they admit to being unaccredited, they STILL claim fake accreditation:

    What do they mean by "private" accreditation? As opposed to "public" accreditation, which doesn't exist in the United States anyway? I tried to open the ACI website but it nearly crashed my computer.

    Their domain registration correlates with where they say they are located, in Hawaii.

    Also, degrees from them are illegal to use in Oregon.
