saw this ad online / seems a bit risky for an accredited school?

they are advertising under 'life experience degrees' so are mingled with all the dodgy schools also advertising

    "Life Experience Degree
    Life Experience Degree Programs
    Online from Phoenix University"

The University of Phoenix is a regionally accredited university.

I'm not certain what your point is.

Maybe someone is trying to rip off the University of Phoenix name by using the name "Phoenix University."

Misuse of the real school's name.

airtorn, i know they are accredited,

what i am saying is that they are very aggressive in their marketing/growth targets and therefore also aiming at the lower end of the market. Or allowing affiliates to push programs that you would not think an accredited institution would go for ...

This has nothing to do with UoP policies per say. This is some "random guy" with a website (one of hundreds no doubt) using a PPC or similar scheme to make referal bucks for UoP student signups. (affiliate marketing). In this biz, you need high visibility, and this is achieved with various "tricks" the foremost of which is keyword/SEO. "Life experience degree" (note the lack of an "S" if it was more officially titled) is a common search term. This is picked up by search engines like google, so that said page shows up in search result for the term. Also notice how the word is highlight-able, not a picture with the word in it, which wont have any effect on search engine rankings. Same with the text below the picture.

The actual program descriptions copy/pasted presumably from official UoP affiliate material makes no mention of giving degrees for life experience. It is possible you could report them to the UoP marketing dept, and they would have their act. closed for making this sort of claim or insinuation.

i know that brandex. it is pretty obvious. UOP allowing it is the issue.

i have run affiliate programs in the past for advertisers and the advertiser (UOP) needs to be on top of the activity not letting them run amok. Afterall, this guy needed to be approved by someone at UOP, or their agency

Perhaps UoP values this off-book viral marketing? It likely brings enrollments.
