You know I get a little nervous whenever a newbie comes in and starts asking questions about degree mills. No links, no explanation about why they're interested. They just seem to be trying to put the name out there so that someone else might figure out that if they were, that's just IF they were trying go and buy themselves a cheap degree mill degree then this is a name that they could pump into their search engine and it might work.

Not only that, there seem to be TONS of threads where someone's first post is exactly like this one:

Somename University, is this a diploma mill?

It is awfully confusing as to why someone, with the intention of spamming, would themselves offer the suggestion of something being a diploma mill. Especially knowing how easily so many people here can tear one of them apart.

BTW, Corllins University has been brought up a few times here. Their accreditation is fake. What more do you need to know?

Perhaps such things serve to improve search rankings/results?

There are two basic ideas behind marketing a diploma mill. First is making the customer think that the school is legitimate. Second is being more up front saying, you want a fake degree to fool people, for a fee I can help you. Letting people know that the place may be a diploma mill simpy caters to the second marketing strategy. Take Kennedy-Western University (AKA Warren National University) as an example. They typically went for the first approach. However, they bought Google advertisment space when someone searched for diploma mill on Google. So they were also going after the second marketing strategy as well.
