    Hi!

Is there any one who knows whether the University of South Central, Los Angeles is accredited or not? Any information on this University which you may consider helpful is welcome. I want to do an MBA with them.

    Thank you.

If you mean the school in this link, check out this thread .

The short answer is that no, it is not accredited.

USCLA uses Joomla for their website. hahaha:D

  5. Joomla is cool, can't fault them for that. However, this isn't:

Why would anyone want their business to be associated with South Central Los Angeles??

    I wondered about that too.

But I don't think that this thing is the work of Americans and Americans aren't its intended customers. The prospective students that it's hoping to attract probably don't have the faintest clue about LA neighborhoods. But the USCLA initials might impress them.

Probably the only connection that this thing has to Los Angeles is its name. Its website whois registration provides an LA street address for the school that simply doesn't exist and the administrative contact is a company located in London's Soho. The USCLA contact page gives us a different address that turns out to be a mail-forwarding service.

And I'm still curious about why we are suddenly getting repeated inquiries about USCLA.

    See these earlier threads:

I have been under that impression since I first saw that the "degrees" are offered to foreign students at degree mill prices through "scholarships".

    From the company's website:

I was thinking the same thing, - the questions look a bit fake or manipulated. someone has it in for this place :)

I do think you guys are being harsh, - it looks semi ok me. (compared to alot of the stuff i have seen).

Given the current bbpve situation in california, probably around 400 fairly new private colleges & universities have sprung up. All schools have to start somewhere.

20 years ago, people were probably saying the same thing* about aspen, phoenix, kaplan, aiu, and all these 'career' colleges that sprung up in the 80's. Clearly they are not harvard's, but who says they have to be?

I would give them the benefit of the doubt for now, - wait a year or 2 until california toughens up and we will seperate the good from the bad.

    *my opinion, not fact

Reasonable advice if you're talking about lawn maintenance or even a car mechanic. TERRIBLE advice if you're talking about medical services or schools.

And to make USCLA's true whereabouts even more opaque:

    - its telephone number rings in Gulfport, Mississippi
    - it claims to be "registered" in the British Virgin Islands

Good guess. In fact, the legal fine print at the USCLA website appears to deny US residents the opportunity to obtain USCLA degrees:

Missing from the list: the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, and many (but not all) western European countries. On the other hand, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa are OK, as are Guam, Puerto, and Rico.
