The usual equating of a diploma mill with an online university. And I don't recall Madison ever claiming DETC accreditation. Perhaps fake accreditation from a similarly named outfit?

The guy claims he did legitimate work, but no one seems to be asking for his dissertation, or with whom he studied. But the real kicker: he's the personnel director of a college. Or, as he describes, "It really leaves me looking stupid as the one who does that type of verification for our institution," he said. "In hindsight I needed to do a lot more digging." I'll say. The guy is either incompetent or lying.

An educator lying about his credentials--claiming a Ph.D. he doesn't really have--should result in his termination. But no, they just stopped paying him the extra money for the "doctorate." One official even said she felt sorry for him. Amazing.

John Bear once wrote an excellent article examining whether or not such people were victims or villains. I continue to wonder....

That might be a legitimate question for the stooge who buys an undergraduate degree and has no idea how a legitimate college works. But someone who has a legitimate undergrad and Master's degree?

No way......he knew exactly what he was doing.
