    Do these universities exist?
I can't find any link or info.

Melvern Christian and Technical Institute of Kansas
    Smith Gaither Christian University

They are both linked to the National Consortium Staff College. Are they made up, or really in existance?

Well, this site here www.classof86.info indicates that Smith Gaither Christian University is (allegedly) in Melvern, Kansas. And one would think that a place called Melvern Christian and Technical Institute of Kansas would be located in Kansas, perhaps even in Melvern. But yet this list of approved universities in Kansas www.ice.gov/sevis/map/ks.htm shows no indication of any Melvern Christian and Technical Institute of Kansas or Smith Gaither Christian University. Hmm.

A Google search for "smith gaither christian university" generated 14 hits, including this board.

This appears to be its very lame website:

    http://www.smithgaitherchristian.com/index.php

    The same page resides here:

    http://yourpartsbin.com/

    It's also here:

    http://www.anstrom.com

    Whois for 'smithgaitherchristian.com' is:

    Registrant:
    ** Roger Courtney
    ** 4740 Wineberry Drive
    ** Fort Worth, Texas 76137
    ** United States
    ** Registered through: GoDaddy.com, Inc. (http://www.godaddy.com)

    ** Domain Name: SMITHGAITHERCHRISTIAN.COM
    ******Created on: 17-Mar-08
    ******Expires on: 18-Mar-10
    ******Last Updated on: 17-Mar-08

Notice that the domain was only registered two weeks ago.

There's a link to NCSC on the SGCU page. It looks to me like the NCSC may have dropped its references to the National Defense Force Support Command (NDFSCOM) and now is talking about something called the United States Defense Civil Preparedness Service Corps... in you guessed it, Melvern Kansas. It's probably a very recent change, since Google didn't generate any hits for that official sounding organization.

Here's the National Consortium Staff College:

    http://www.usdcpasc.com/

    ... and its whois:

    ** Domain Name: USDCPASC.COM
    ******Created on: 10-Aug-06
    ******Expires on: 10-Aug-08
    ******Last Updated on: 31-Oct-07

    ** Administrative Contact:
    ******Courtney, Roger**
    ******n5rcs.com
    ******4740 Wineberry Drive
    ******Fort Worth, Texas 76137
    ******United States
    ******9726978264******Fax

http://ww.n5rcs.com seems to be a dead link.

On the NCSC's contact page, Roger Courtney is described as NCSC's Curriculum Director. The mailing address provided for him is the Ft. Worth address.

It's definitely in flux. In the last few weeks, NCSC's Mountain Grove MO address seems to have changed to Melvern KS (it isn't exactly clear where it is) and a whole new "christian" (and hopefully religious-exempt?) university has appeared on the scene there.

The Mountain Grove MO PO box that NCSC was recently using is apparently where the National Defense Force Support Command's website is registered:

    WhoIs Results for usndfscom.com

    Last Name:Young*

According to the Melvern website, the population is 423!

And according to both Google Maps and Mapquest, there is no such address as 116 Southeast Main in Melvern.

Since these institutions use a P.O. box, it may well be that the post office lets them use whatever street address they want (or doesn't notice or doesn't care).

When I lived in Littleriver, CA (population 407), and got my mail at PO Box H, I used to amuse the Postmistress by giving out addresses like
    John Bear
    Megalith Towers, 73rd Floor
    Drawer H
    Littleriver, CA 95456

    or
    John Bear
    Embassy of Herzogovina
    1 Embassy Row
    Drawer H
    etc.

One wonders what's really going on in Melvern, but it sure ain't a university.
