TALLAHASSEE - Walt McNeil traded one tough state job for another Tuesday as Gov. Charlie Crist tapped Florida's juvenile justice chief to run the exponentially larger prison system.

    ...

He holds an associate degree in law enforcement from Jones Junior College in Mississippi and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Southern Mississippi.

His master's degree from St. John's University, a correspondence school in rural Louisiana, came under scrutiny last year because it came from an unaccredited school. However, neither of his state jobs has required a master's degree.

Presumably, they don't require integrity, either. Good thing for him and his phoney master's.

Doesn't that depend on how he listed the master's on his resume? Since the unaccredited degree was detected back when he was working for the Tallahassee PD, I wonder if he has deleted it or has kept it on his resume but indicated that the "degree" is from an unaccredited school?

I expect from what Rich said that this particular St. John's is a degree mill, but not all unaccredited institutions are, and I see no ethical requirement to denote a degree on one's CV as unaccredited if the institution is legitimate.
