While searching the US Small Business Administration website, I happened upon the "Online Universities and Colleges" webpage.

So I checked a bit further in this "Honolulu University" accreditation:

"Unlike most countries, in the United States there is no national procedure for licensing or accrediting universities and colleges. Accreditation is voluntary and is not the function of the U.S. Department of Education.

Honolulu University is accredited by Akademie Fur Internationale Kultur- und Wissenschaftsforderung (APICS), located in Switzerland, which accredits some of the oldest and most reputable universities and colleges in Europe and the Near East. Honolulu University is a member of International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE), officially recognized by the United Nations as global NGO and is affiliated with the United Nations through UNESCO. HONOLULU UNIVERSITY IS NOT ACCREDITED BY AN ACCREDITING AGENCY RECOGNIZED BY THE UNITED STATES SECRETARY OF EDUCATION."

Have we gone mad? Here, we have a US Government agency referring to an unaccredited institution. At least three US states - Michigan, Oregon, and Texas - refuse to recognize this "university". Is someone present in federal government who might actually have a clue concerning such matters?
