I know that it's a complete and utter sham, but does anybody know how instantdegrees.com manages to stay open or know anything about them? They claim on their web site that they have been open for 4 consecutive years, and claim their degrees are perfectly legal. Their web site seems very brash, ballsy, and proud of what they are doing. -Jassen
Instantdegrees is the marketing front for Buxton University, allegedly located in England. Since they market to citizens of other countries the British authorities simply ignores them.
This is a classical diploma mill. Its more of a title mill than anything else. More like for a business person who just want the legal paper. One thing I can say about them, they are very honest in the way they present themselves. Totally not recommended for work or school
Belford University Found another one: http://www.belforduniversity.org Can't believe how up front they are about what they are doing....Not to mention what they charge! On the other end of the cheezy spectrum, I also found this today: http://www.boxfreeconcepts.com/magicmill/creatediploma.html This one is meant as a joke from the get go. Now I can hang my free MBA from Carolina Coast University up right next to my TESC degree! -Jassen
instantdegrees.com is registered in Canada, the buxtonstudy.info site is registred through a New York agent on an IP in Pennsylvania to a company based in Baltimore and the degree certificates come with a Portugese postmark! Apart from harrasing the ISPs which is not productive when outside the UK there really is little connection for the UK authorities to deal with. Perhaps someone should point out that fake qualifications like this could be used by terrorists and get the FBI interested?
Now ain't that interesting. Sign up today to start your very own diploma mill! Yeah....See ya in prison. As the saying goes, there's a sucker born every minute. I guess that's how they stay afloat.
Re: Belford University A Belford "graduate" shares the following with us: "I was running my own pharmacy store the last couple of years. During this period I learned a lot about pharmacy and medicines which I think even those who have studied would not know. I consider myself lucky to hold a degree on the basis of my learning." Elaine Acosta Bachelor’s Degree, Pharmacy The bit I emphasized is the scary part. It might even be a real testimony. I Wish Elaine had included the name of her store. I'm sure her customers would be reassured by her extensive...empirical...approach to selling pharmaceuticals.
Re: Re: Belford University Her "pharmaceutical store" could also be the local back alley illegal substance dealer.
Re: Re: Re: Belford University I have a friend who is DVM from Russia he has no US license but he owns network of pet clinics and employs DVM's with US licenses and RVT's. She can own a pharmacy store wile she employs licensed professionals. Sometimes the doctors knowing that my friend is not licensed try to intimidate my friend and demand money etc. He had to fire last year 2 of such doctors. Maybe this lady have her employees flash the credentials in her face so she went and placed on the wall one of her own to shut their mouth? Any way as long as she is not using it to refill prescriptions than the damage is minimal and one day someone will let her know what her paper really is Learner
Re: Re: Re: Re: Belford University ....and therein lies the rub.... What odds would you give that that is exactly what she - or others like her - do?
