Five speed bumps. I always think it's good when schools move through the accreditation process and so I wish them the best in their efforts.

Or, perhaps the NEASC is the best regional accreditor. It seems that NEASC accredits alot of schools with respectable DL offerings without all of the mess that schools like AIU, UoP and NCU create for the NCA and SACS.

I'm not saying that any of the schools I've listed are bad because I wouldn't know. They do cause quite a stir on this board, however. And I don't think that the NCA or SACS are bad either, I'm attending an NCA DL program now. What I am saying is the NEASC looks to deliver enough programs by DL without the controversy that some NCA and SACS accredited DL programs create to be considered, perhaps, the best RA accreditor.

    Perhaps.

I don't believe there is a "best" regional accreditor, they all cooperate and have very simliar standards and quality. AIU and UOP (I am not as familiar with NCU's issues outside of the Title IV thing) create messes for themselves, it's not a reflection on the accreditor. The fact that AIU is on probation is their own fault and SACS is doing it's job by putting them on probation; thus proving the system works.

Of course you're right. The activity of the schools are a reflection of the schools and not their accreditors. But I have seen some posts recently, including Jimmy's above, that have speculated that SACS might be a better accreditor than the other regionals, and I just wanted to float the idea that the good things up here in New England shouldn't be ignored when considering such things.

While I'm thinking about it, the Middle States Association has some fine DL offerings as well. Perhaps they are the best.... :D

I guess I could have said SACS is one of the best regional accreditors rather than "...perhaps the best...."

TO MIGUEL-----sorry, but the Off Topic and Politics boards are off limits for me. Self-regulation is a good thing!

There are other fora for politics, boxing, psychology, religion, etc., that I post on.

I want my participation here to be strictly DL. Plus, I never have to feel bad about myself because of what I said after posting on the DL boards!

SACS is a highly thought of accrediting agency.

I don't think this is insurmountable for Luther Rice. They know exactly the areas in which they are "short." Schools frequently think they have met all the standards and are surprised to find out they have interpretted something incorrectly.

I looked pretty closely at Luther Rice before I went with Liberty. They are a solid school, have had some excellent faculty, and I have no doubt they will reach SACS accreditation.

Other TRACS schools that will have SACS if they want it?

    Southern Evangelical Seminary (Charlotte, NC)
    Northwest Baptist Seminary (Tacoma, WA)

    Both very high quality.

Tennessee Temple University might, although they are struggling with severe financial problems.

I think that WASC also enforces the accreditation standards.
A couple of schools in the past lost their WASC accreditation and went out of business.

If I'm not mistaken West Coast University went out of business after loosing their WASC accreditation.(not 100% sure)

In reality all 6 regional doing their job.
