Would you choose a college listed in DETC/ODL QC, but NOT listed in CHEA/DFES? and Why?

I am trying to learn about accreditation in distance learning,
since I have completely have no idea,
I am in Indonesia and searching for UK/US DL degree.
    Please share your opinion...

    Thanks :)

It looks to me that you are in error.

You can start by going to this link
    http://www.degreeinfo.com/tutorial/index.html

    Now
DETC is recognized and listed by CHEA. CHEA recognizes Accrediting agencies.
It is yet to be proven that DECT accredited degrees have the same utility as RA degrees.

By the way what what is ODL?

I am ion error, indeed... really, I am BLIND with all these accreditation things in US/UK.
That's why I need some help here.

Thank you for the link you gave :)

And ODL QC, is an accreditation body in UK (www.odlqc.org.uk).
Still, I do not have any idea whether this one is good enough.

ODL is independed and in my opinion has limited value, I glamced quickly trout their web site and may be not acurate, I think their accreditation is of limited value and not recognized.

For UK only universities under Royal Charter or the Privy Council are recognized as UK universities. visit the DFES site.

Was this deliberate to have DETC and ODL in the same category?

DETC is fully recognized by CHEA and USDOE, degrees from DETC accredited universities, colleges and schools are recognized, if professional licensing is the goal then it is better to check with agency that regulates professionas in your country before inroling in any DL school.
ask if degree from such and such university meet the requirements to become registred in that profession or to be eligible to take exams etc.

    hi

    Hi

I am from Indonesia too.I think you should go to regionally accredited universities from US which is considered the highest accreditation in the US instead of going to DETC accredited universities. Many of them have offered distance learning courses nowadays.May I know what subjects are you looking in?

If from UK,usually you may look into royal chartered universities.but again what subject you are interested in.the most popular universities and has been discussed intensifely on this forun are from University of London, which has various of academic programmes or Heriott watt university, which is more popular on its MBA program.

I am trying to find something fast and effective for my new career.
My background is Journalism, now entering Marketing world.

I think a diploma in Business/Marketing/Communications would be perfect.
I do not need higher ones, because, I don't have enough time,
furthermore higher degrees are not affordable for me.

I will not stop trying to find one, but I think I've took a peek
to all the universities/colleges listed CHEA and DFES,
    they're just too high.

To Eric: I thought I was lost, phiew... thanks God... :)

    To Peacefullia

To:Lia(it is your name isn't it)

There are a lot of universities offered such programs.it depends on your preference.I may suggests you some but there are too many institutions that offer such courses.if you want further detail you may e-mail me at [email protected]

The most important is don't be trapped into diploma mill institutions, which are also dozens in USA or UK.

Have you considered any of the South African universities? There are many fine, accrredited universities in SA. They are generally cheaper than U.S. universities, as well. Here's one to take a look at if you haven't already:

Just my 2 cents..RA is the gold standard among accreditations, but if you need a cheap and affordable education, DETC accredited degree will be good for you, if you gonna used it in Asias only, most Asian countries will accept DETC accredited degree for employment. Of course, NA degree will be a 2nd choice if you think RA is too expensive for you.
    Hope this helps!

While I appreciate Kozen's advice, I would like to point out that DETC degrees are not always less expensive than RA degrees. I would advise anyone to check into the specifics of costs before making any decisions about academic programs.

    Yes I believe so :)
I've tried to discuss it with several friends here,
and they said just exactly what you wrote.
