Does anyone know about Century University? I see they are not accredited with CHEA or the Department of Education.

    Hi Sam,

Welcome to the forum. Century has been discussed in some detail here. Try doing a keyword search for it. If that does not provide the info you after, please post again.

    Cheers,

    George

Century isn't accredited, nor has it ever been. It used to operate from California, but left when that state started requiring all unaccredited schools to go through an approval process. The founder stayed in California, but much of the administration went to New Mexico.

New Mexico didn't have much on the books regulating schools, which is why Century went there. New Mexico has strengthened their processes, but doesn't apply them to Century, having "grandfathered" them (and at least one other school). So, Century continues to operate without any real outside validation.

The last time I looked, Century's tiny faculty had quite a few people who held doctorates from Century, which isn't a good thing.

Some might say that Century isn't a university, just a business posing as one. Being the creator of that comment (applied to other such operatoins), I would be one of those people.
