    Lerner,

I confess that I do not know as much about Russian accreditation as I probably should have known in order for me to have participated in some of the arguing with you around here that I have done in the past. So, absent my taking the time to look it up and see if it's for real (which I will eventually take the time to do... but just not right now); and assuming that the link you've provided really is to the legitimate Russian governmental agency that oversees higher education accreditation in that country, then I am happy to tell you that you have, officially, in this very thread, made the hands-down most useful post at DegreeInfo that you have ever made... or so it is my opinion.

Thank you!!! Seriously. I've set a bookmark.

I recently met with an Austrade representative from Russia and she is doing some work for me at the moment. I shall forward her the link and determine its legitimacy.

    Cheers,

    George

Interestingly they have a discussion board (cannot provide link but it is under the main page at http://www.nica.ru/main.en.phtml and is called 'Guest Book'). I see Dr Marjorie Peace Lenn has posted (quite an authority in QA in the USA and I have met her online through my dealings with AUQA) and Dr Carl Lindgren (ex Greenwich faculty).

They also have a listing of over 1000 'accredited' HE institutions in Russia. I don't know if anyone can see it, but I can't see our mates from IUFS listed there.

The NAA claims to be a full member of INQAAHE. If so then this is indeed a legit site. I, too, thank Lerner for this invaluable info.

    Cheers,

    George

Here's the INQAAHE's writeup on it:

I think that the English language webpages are relatively new. I don't remember seeing them when I looked at nica.ru a few months ago.

Here's all the ones whose names start with the English word 'international':

    225. International Banking Institute (0610 A 000630 04.07.2002-14.06.2007)

    226. International Humanitarian-Technical Academy (1528 B 000081 05.01.2004-10.12.2008)

    227. International Independent University of Environment & Political Sciences (1638 B 000197 23.04.2004-23.04.2009)

    228. International Institute of Management LINK (0625 A 000649 04.07.2002-14.06.2007)

    229. International Management Institute of St. Petersburg EO (1634 B 000193
    09.03.2004-09.03.2009)

    230. International University (in Moscow) (Prikaz Federalnoi sluzhbi po nadzoru v sfere obrazovania i nauki ? 328 26.10.2004-25.05.2006)

    231. International university of bisiness and management (1479 B 000023 25.05.2004-25.05.2009)

    232. International _cademy of ¬arketing and ¬anagement I A M M (0624 A 000648 04.07.2002-14.06.2007)

But many of the schools listed haven't had their names tranlated into English, just into the Latin alphabet. Unfortunately, I don't know what the Russian word for 'international' is. Nevertheless, I'm virtually certain that IUFS isn't there.

'mezhdunarodnyj' or 'mezhdunarodnij' or 'mezhdunarodny', however you mignt like to transliterate it.
...followed the link: they use 'Mezhdunarodnyj', and I presume that's an official transliteration (there's a national standard for this somewhere). You were right: no sign of IUFS or MUFO anywhere. Lots of weird-sounding 'international' universities, but no IUFS. There's an entry for 'Moscow University Touro', so we know it's not a mill ;)
