    I had to get a chuckle out of this little gem;

"If we use common sense and moderation we will continue to beat DI into the ground".

    Continue???

I have suggested here many times that we should not respond to anything written in The Crabby Forum or AED... or just about anyplace else for that matter.

As tempting as it may be, I even more strongly suggest that now. This is an internal struggle for the folks in that forum to work out themselves, in their own way.

Moreover, I notice that by simply watching and reading what they're posting over there regarding this issue, one is able to see precisely what the problem with that forum -- and the viewpoint of its members -- really is. If you think about it, further commentary from us, here, isn't even necessary. By what they're writing, they're illustrating/demonstrating the very points of criticism of them that most of us tend to make here.

I'd hate to see this now become, yet again, a thread at DI where other fora that are critical of us are debated and debated and debated... ad nauseam. Let's, please, not do that this time... okay, everyone?

Just my opinion, mind you... and my fervent request.

How did that go? "The Cabots spoke only to the Lodges and the Lodges spoke only to God"?

    Here's to good old Boston,
The home of the bean and the cod,
Where the Lowells talk only to Cabots
And the Cabots talk only to God.

    Censorship?

Reminds me of Singapore - the next day's paper must be approved by the Government a little after midnight before it can go to the press.

So as I contribute at the Crabb site from time to time as the mood takes me, what is my fate in your hands? :(

As far as I'm concerned, if you stick to the degreeinfo TOS you'll continue in your ability to show up and state your case. If you want more than that then you can pm me and I'll send you Santas address at the North Pole.

If you don't want me to take you seriously then, I assure you, I can easily grant your wish.

    Degreeinfo isn't government and neither...praise the lord...is DesElms. :)

Gregg is speaking of cross-posting which is a less-than-wonderful practice. You are speaking of cross-dressing which is...something else.

Mi querido Bullet: Hard to say about Mr French, tovarishch.

Many genteel National Socialists regarded Julius Streicher as vulgar, but thought that Albert Speer was a nice young man. "Moderation" is in the eye of the beholder.

I didn't read anything in DesElms post where he was talking about posting in both forums. I read it as we shouldn't talk about other forums in this forum. I can appreciate the thought after all in that other forum it seems that a primary topic is this forum (admittedly my view is likely skewed though). If true, it is kind of sad. We should try to avoid sad behavior here but an occasional bash can be kind of fun, I guess.

Since THAT board's main function (besides shilling for obvious degree mills) is to attack this board's members, I see no reason to respond to their attacks here. I've done it, but saw the light.

See, it doesn't do any good. You can correct their lies and distortions, but no change occurs, and you're preaching to their choir anyway.

Now, condescending remarks (or lies, or falsehoods, or shoddy arguments, or....) made HERE are another story. To not answer them here is to provide assent by silence, which I will not do. My silence at DI about what is said there doesn't communicate the same thing--and I cannot respond there.

So, for me no answering here what is said there. Less aggravation, and it wasn't effective anyway.

Unc: Had to look up "animadversion." Please note the appreciative comment that followed.

Oh please, the "free speech" argument?

"Free speech" means that you, as a citizen, have the right to directly criticize your government and it means that the press is not to be censored. But this is hardly the fourth estate, it's a privately owned message forum, "free speech" rights don't apply there.

'Course I suppose you could write your congressman to demand redress should your Degreeinfo thread be closed or deleted, but you would (rightly) be written off as a nut.

I am glad that what Mr Ruhl did not post on the crabby forum for lack of guts, but as "scar" posted on AED instead, concerned me and not Dr Douglas. It would have been bad if it had been a lie about Dr Douglas. But since it is a lie about me it is OK (and even humorous in its absurdity).
