Any additional scoop on U. Northern Washington? ODA info is below.

University of Northern Washington Vancouver B.C. ?

Degree mill. ODA has no evidence that this is an accredited or otherwise acceptable provider of postsecondary education meeting Oregon standards. Closed by court order. Notes: may still be operating in British Columbia, not clear. Relocated from Hawaii.

Got kicked out of Hawaii. Have you ever wondered why University of Northern Washington is not located in Washington? So, obviously they're geographically challenged, to say the least. Not a very good writeup in Bears' Guide. Hmm.

    Thanks

Thanks for the update, just ordered my Bears guide, needed something quick in the meantime.

Saw a "Director of Education" of a pretty big firm sporting a U. North Washington MBA

    Update

Since the University of Northern Washington was my test project for Internal Audit, I like to check in now and then and see how they are doing.

Despite being evicted from 2 states, (Hawaii involuntarily dissolved their corporation, which had no real physical location. The listed university address was a mail forwarding service), they seem to be doing just fine with no mailing address, no phone number, no faculty, no course listings, no problem.

"Alumni" seem to be getting along just fine also. John Hogan, Director of Education and Cultural Diversity for Best Western International claims an MBA from UNW and says he is working on his Phd (Any bets where?).

Ironically, he even writes about job descriptions, which of course, seem a little vague in the education section.

"John’s background includes teaching college level courses as an adjunct professor for 20 years". I assume this shall mean, he received his UNW-"degree" as his listed highest degree more than 20 years ago...how come I believe that UNW does not exist for so long?!

I thought that was comical too. I can't find the link, but thought I saw John Hogan pursuing his Phd from Kennedy Western.

Would Kennedy Western actually accept credits from an non-existent University to enter a Phd program? Not that they have high standards on anything I've seen, but I thought that would be a little much.

    Re: Thanks

Just an update on our famous John Hogan - Northern Washington "University" alumni, now sporting a UNW "PhD in International Business" and calling himself Dr.

Just another insult to all the people with legitimate credentials.

Pricing seems a little steep for a bogus Northern Washington degree also.

    Bachelor’s degree $5950.00
    Master’s degree $6950.00
    Ph.D. $6995.00
    Combination Bachelor's/Master's Degree $8750.00
    Combination Master’s/Ph.D. $9750.00

That's so people won't feel they got something for nothing. Instead they got nothing for a lot of something. ;)

    Re: Thanks

"Dr. Hogan" is the Director of Education for Best Western International. This is disgraceful. I sent an e-mail to Best Western International's corporate headquarters with a link to this thread. I worked very hard to earn an MBA and am working my tail off towards my PhD. To have a corporate executive holding bogus qualifications is bad, but the Director of Education...

My bet is that Best Western has no idea...

It has been reported in the past by someone whose only claim to any academic achievement was a Ph.D. from an entity in the diploma mill chapter of Bears' Guide that they were offered entrance to the Kennedy-Western University Computer Science Ph.D. program.

    John Hogan - Fake Degree

Interesting case. If he got the Best Western gig based on the University of Northern Washington MBA, why not stop there?

Why put yourself at even greater personal risk by taking the misrepresentation one step further to a University of Northern Washington PHD and calling yourself Doctor? Doesn't the honorific of Doctor beg the questions "Doctor of what, from where?"

Seems to be a prolific presenter / writer, so he might have been able to succeed on his own merits, but then throw in such a gross error in judgement (the nicest way I could think of wording it).

    I just don't get it.

So, depending on how one chooses to do the math, one could get Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees from the "University" of Northern Washington for (a) $15,700; (b) $15, 745; or (c) $19,895. Hmm. BTW - Why isn't this university in Bellingham? :D
