Well, he just went back to the Granton Institute of Technology to pick up a nurses aide diploma. So while he is not running Weston Reserve University and Alternative Medicines Research Institute, and of course being an MD, he is working as a nurses aide. Go figure!

Egbert Phipps of Vancouver, BC, who received a diploma in Nurses Aide, wrote us this letter: “I am indeed proud and honoured to belong to the Alumni Association of the accredited Granton Institute of Technology. The course information was both practical and most valuable and has exceeded my expectations both in course content and overall presentation. In particular, the self-quiz and final examinations were challenging and help reinforce the newly acquired knowledge. I now feel very confident to take on the job as Nurses Aide. I take this opportunity to personally thank my Tutorial Committee for the efficient grading of the examinations and for the timely encouragement given to me. More importantly, my request for a Dictionary of Medical Terms was answered promptly which was in addition to the standard textbooks. I have now begun to build a medical library for my professional career so essential for my future success. In conclusion, I do not hesitate to recommend the accredited Nurses Aide Diploma as a starting course for the other Medical Diploma specialisations. I intend shortly to further my studies with the accredited Health Care Aide Diploma course. I wish the faculty and staff of Granton Institute of Technology many years of continued quality instruction in all the Diploma course specialisations offered by this prestigious and accredited Institute.” August 2002

Not sure who your referring to but as one with a Granton diploma I can say I found it to be the best of the vocational level DL schools.

Well after 20 years of starting and running one diploma mill after another, perhaps Sir Egbert, M.D., the Duke of Minsk, is going straight. Stranger things have happened.

(I posted his resume on DegreeInfo once, suggesting it was the biggest collection of phony credentials I'd ever seen in one place.)

For anyone who is interested, it's rather simple to read up on the good Dr. Phipps by going to Google Groups and then to alt.education.distance. Pump his name into the search function and you'll get a whole bunch of posts related to him and his activities.

Phipps is a St. Luke School of Medicine "graduate"

These guys with their whifflebomber degrees, they like to help each other out.

Phipps was listed as a March 2002 M.D. graduate of the St. Luke School of Medicine.

I have attached a screen shot of part of the SLSOM page announcing this.

I hadn't seen the list of St. Luke MDs. From the fragment galanga posted, it seems clear that these people are actually practicing medicine, or at least calling themselves "M.D." in a health-related field. Of course there may be real MDs with these name as well. For instance,

    Astara Burlingame, R.N., M.D.

    Peter Kolosky, M.D.

Beyond a shadow of a doubt, there are people practicing medicine with St Luke Medical Degree's.

The problem is alot of these guys - gals actually did work to earn the degree, the problem is with St Luke.
