The Almeda site was down for a few days. Now it's back.

Notice who accredits it: there's CDEA, as well as IEMAA, both manifestations of the continuing labors of the St. Regis group. There's other stuff too, of course.

It's enough to make a body think that the events of August 11 have faded from memory. Sheesh.

Yes, well the reasons are quite clear as they state on their website:

Almeda University expected to pursue regional accreditation in 2003; however, the accreditation requirements changed to exclude institutions that offer a majority of credits through experiential learning.

    So there.

    Cheers,

    George

An old sayng in spanish says "Dios los cria y el Diablo los junta" which translates "God creats them and the Devil brings then together". I think that applies here.

From Alaskan snow to Mississippi mud...

Miguel's right, especially in light of net places rejoicing over this um cleverness.

  5. Didn't John Bear post something here a while back stating that Almeda was appeared more than any other mill in a study he did of resumes that had questionable credentials? If so, then this is a sleeping giant that needs to be stirred awake - the implications are far more serious than the nearly successful SRU scandal.

    Please check out

I am not sure. But please check out whether Dixie bought Almeda or partnered with Almeda.

She always love to earn money without she coming in picture

When I did on-line resume searching for a TV network a couple of years ago, I was surprised how very many Almeda listings there were. Today, using the excellent www.zoominfo.com site I learned about here last week, I found 52 resumes listing Almeda, including the following (I leave off the names of the carriers of these time bombs):

    Executive Director
    The Human Resources Outsourcing Association
    Concord, New Hampshire

Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications
    iDirect Technologies Inc
    Arlington, Virginia

    Field Sergeant
    Santa Ana Police Department

    Manager, Expanding Surveying Operations
    CMX Civil Engineering, Arizona

    Director
    American Society for Quality
    Illinois

    Terrorism Training Instructor
    Somerset County Police Academy

    Director of Plant Operations
    Delta Regional Medical Center, MS

    Directress, Primary Education
    Little Oaks Montessori School
    Rohnert Park, CA

    VP, International Security
Servision (large Israeli security company, also Las Vegas)

Is it true, or is it a vicious rumour only that you
'rat' on people using PLA degrees to their employers?

    John:
I don't know what a "PLA" degree is. However, if you are talkng about holders of fake degrees, I don't write to employers.

However when the employers write to me, and they quite often do, I offer opinions and advice -- as I did yesterday with a national management organization which asked me about its Executive Director who has three totally fake degrees.

And I used to do a fair amount of consulting, from writing advice memos to depositions to expert witness testimony, in these matters -- as I did earlier this year in the matter of a large pharmaceutical company which fired one of its senior researchers after discovering his bogus Ph.D., and that person sued for wrongful dismissal. But constraints on my time for family matters mean that I do a lot less of this sort of thing.

PLA = Prior Learning Assessment. The sort of process run by Almeda.

So I assume that you hold an unaccredited degree?

    No

I'm studying at the OU (www.open.ac.uk) in the UK at the moment (not the OU in the USA) for a BSc (Hons) in ICT.

Almeda in particular, is a diploma mill. Prior learning assessment is, in general, the primary diploma mill scam. It is the common denominator for most diploma mills. It is the trick used to convince the victim that the piece of paper that they're buying has real value. It is therefore the straw that these victims hold onto as they drown in the deceit that then becomes their own.

Reference the articles here, http://www.degreeinfo.com/articles.html, for descriptions of how knowledge can be turned into real college credits.

If you don't mind me asking about them, I have found a few inconsistencies in your posts about your qualifications.

There are previous posts by you claiming extensive IT experience, bachelors (including a BSc(Hons) in ICT from the OU already), masters and doctoral degrees.

(references here and here and here)

Also, your response to the question

contradicts other statements claiming a ULC PhD , as well as defending the ULC and the ULC degree in this thread

Could you please clarify the situation?

    What he said!
    Factual! &
    Cogent! &
    Logically stated.

Four straightforward mere (and true!) sentences that almost always throw diploma mill scammers, perpetrators, victims, and apologists into a virtual whirlwind of frantic and useless denials, verbal contortions and nihilistics, and childish vituperations.

All, of course, to no avail. A worthless PLA piece of paper ("degree") is a worthless piece of paper.

To the millist crowd, the truth hurts ..... boy, does it hurt!

So, venerable Mr. BillH and other DI mill-busters: watch out for the flying stuff, both here (I hope they get trapped and stopped at the door) and on other ("by their words ye shall know them") so-called DL fora.

    Thanks

    :)
