I just have one question. To satisfy my own curiosity. Are W.A.U.C. schools "authorized" to operate in any state. They all seem to operate out of mississippi and I was wandering if this was done within the bounds of the laws of that state?

    Thanks in advance...

I don't know the answer to your question but I DO know that Taft University once successfully sued W.A.U.C. for not doing anything an accrediting agency is supposed to do.

    Where'd you get your J.D?

The World Association of Universities and Colleges is not an accrediting agency recognized by the U. S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. So, their accreditation is essentially worthless. Such a degree probably wouldn't fly in Oregon.

Yes, I know Taft sued the WAUC. But at the time TAFT was also an "Authorized" by the state of California, therefore legal. What I find curious is that most of the Schools in the WAUC are in Mississippi. My JD is not from a WAUC school although it is not ABA Accredited.

Thanks, Mr. Heiks, for stating this all-important fact. It speaks volumes about any entity, "school" or program claiming accreditation from such an unrecognized (and illegitimate) source. It can never be repeated and re-emphasized enough.

    Thanks.

I don't think there is any requirement by the WAUC for its accredited schools to be licensed in any particular state. It is a non sequitur to imply such a relationship.

Mississippi doesn't regulate unaccredited schools to any extent. That is why it is the new home for many degree mills pushed out of other jurisdictions.
