    ODA

Virginia International University New institution that appears to be legitimate. Not a degree mill under Oregon law. Degrees not valid in Oregon owing to lack of accreditation or ODA approval.

    ------
What is your opinion on this write-up?

    From their web site

VIU is a recognized institution, all of our programs, including Diploma and Certificate courses were aproved by the State Board of Education of Virginia. However, the real application depends on the policy of the school where credits will be transferred to."

Seven years in operation? Not yet accredited?
Well CCU was unaccredited longer but why such a degree is illigal in Oregon?

I think Dr. Rich Douglas worked taught here. If I am correct, maybe he can respond to your post.

    LOL

This is one James and his "gang" love to rant about. Personally I find their ranting rather funny. Yes, it is unaccredited but in no way a mill. Yes, Rich taught there. So what? Now if they had ANY evidence it was a mill that would be interesting but like all their ranting it is baseless name calling because Rich, John, George and others that expose frauds and mills bother the hell out of "em. All of which shows their real interest and bias. Like I said, funny as hell.

The fact that Dr. Douglas was teaching there for couple of years
is not why I asked the questions. I really don't know anything about them.

Why a person with VIU degree is braking the law in Oregon?

If the school is not a mill that is?

This is an example then of a better unaccredited school.

If they list their degree/school as unaccredited how are they breaking the law? It is unaccredited so they shouldn't have a problem listing that.

So, maybe he can respond to the post, that's all. Nothing mean-spirited or vicious in my post then or now.

    Hi Jimmy

I wasn't responding to your post or suggesting there was anything wrong about it. I was commenting on those wacky degree mill promoters who think teaching at an unaccredited school is some how a big deal.

    Sorry Dave,

It's easy to get defensive on here from time to time.

I have, in another thread where "lerner" cross-posted this.

VIU is not a DL school. They're hardly relevant to this board and, frankly, I'm tired of answering the same things over and over. Let someone else do it. I taught a handful of classes for them a few years ago. Today, I have as much insight as the next person, no more.

Try doing your own research. The school is irrelevant to this board.

Your first question is based on a false premise, by the way.

Whether or not VIU is a "better unaccredited school" is hard to say. I guess you could decide whether or not Virginia is a "better" state in terms of its oversight of degree-granting institutions. I'm sure you can come to your own conclusions regarding that.

Of all of the unaccredited B&M schools in the U.S. (or even Virginia, for that matter), somehow the one I've taught at becomes yet another discussion thread? As Steve would say:

    How conveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeenient!

A Year ego i would bring up CCU but now that they are accredited
I was thinking of another legitimate unaccredited school.

And can please Dr. Douglas point me in the Oregon law distingtion between B&M and DL school?

Yes the site is mostly relevant to DL, but accreditiation and recognition issues are debated for not only DL schools.

This tread was not in any for or shape a negative post about your involvment and teaching there, if anything in my eyes this only adds to the schools credibility.

    OK,

So next time I will ask a question about SCUPS instead.
