Pro Akamai Vs. Akamai Critics

It is quite natural to have people supporting certain facts and likewise there are people opposing the same facts. We are facing similar situation here whereby there seems to be number of people in this forum who are supporting Akamai and there are some including me who have a total belief that Akamai in Malaysia and Vietnam is nothing but DIPLOMA MILL. My belief is born out of my curiosity which led me to investigate Akamai in Malaysia and Vietnam. As I gathered and explored more and more information about Akamai my intuitions converted into real facts that Akamai is not an Academic Institution but rather a degree printing press which is managed by group of unethical self-proclaimed academicians.

Those who have been supporting Akamai have practically offered nothing to convince readers that Akamai is a credible institution and revert to character attack aimed to shut down the opposition. It seems to be more of their personal conviction towards Dr. C that they chose to defend him and Akamai. Off course Dr. C had said a lot and still have to say but then “Self praise is no recommendation”. I think he is defeating the purpose of this discussion, in principle he should focus on the subject rather then the object itself. My aim is to educate people about the degree mills like Akamai and ensure that such degree mills stop cheating people.

On the contrary opposition has presented information based on news articles and based on Akamai web site. I am willing to accept that I am wrong and would apologize to Dr. C and all his cronies if they can prove with supporting evidence that Akamai operation in Malaysia and Vietnam is credible and beyond suspicion. On the other hand if we prove Akamai if we prove Akamai in Malaysia is Diploma Mill then we would expect the same in return…:..Are we asking for too much here? It is quite fair to expect the management of Akamai to shut its operations immediately in Malaysia and Vietnam.


Let us analyze the amount of collateral damage Akamai is doing to our educational system;

1) According to the OSA web site Akamai University is legally established in Hawaii only in 2005. See link below;

On the contrary Akamai University had organized a graduation ceremony in Malaysia on 21 December 2003 with 54 MBAs, 5 doctorates in collaboration with their member school Advance Academy Resources. Things to ponder;

a) Akamai mentioned that they have awarded Advance Academy Resources a member school status. On what basis Akamai awarded them the member school status? Advance Academy Resources is nothing but a for profit business entity and has no authorization from anywhere to conduct degree programmes

b) If 54 MBA students graduated in December 2003 then they must have enrolled with Akamai in Year 2002. Was Akamai in existence then? Or AKAMAI SOLD DEGREES TO THEM? Did Akamai accept 100% transfer for these students enrolled with Advanced Academy Resources? If so then on what grounds these students were granted transfer credits? Do Akamai have proper credit evaluation system? If so then this credit evaluation system is based on which credit accumulation and transfer scheme? Any institution can develop its own system to suite and justify its operation so if Akamai system is not supported by proper credit evaluation reports and the guide then it is not valid cause this can only be practice by Diploma Mill institutions

c) If 5 students awarded doctorate degree in December 2003 then they must have enrolled with Akamai in Year 2001. Was Akamai in existence then? Or AKAMAI SOLD DEGREES TO THEM? Did Akamai accept 100% transfer for these students enrolled with Advanced Academy Resources? This can only be practice by Diploma Mill institutions

I think they will never reply this message. Infact these already shown how credibility of AU and it proved to the reader that AU is mill. Why degtree can issue in 2002. this is really a questional. These is what we known but probably some in earlier stage. Most of the pro might be selling AU and what ever the comment we given it will end up ask you to SHUT UP. This is what they behave.

According to my notes, Akamai was in existence as of June 2002. I think Oregon has this one wrong.

 

Operates legally in Hawaii as of May, 2005. ODA has no evidence that this is an accredited or otherwise acceptable provider of postsecondary education meeting Oregon standards.

Can we said that before May 2005 it will consider illegal. Why they can issue Doctorate-Master-Bachelor-Associate Degree before the legality date. Does it mean that it will be illegal to hold the degree before May 2005.

 

You may be right. In fact, if someone who knew for sure held a gun to my head and asked me to declare whether it was or not and told me that if I was wrong my brains would be on the floor, I'd lean toward the diploma mill thing.

I think you really a big joker in the world. Please give him a prause. I had told you that we are operating MARS University, Pluto, Moon and many more. The problem is we are accredited by the Universe so that we do not facing such kind of problem. Blind people also can read. When is your mission to Iraq, I think you should be in the list! You are really a BIG JERK or "Chiau Kia"! Wan, I think he had lost in Jurassic Park and he need a navigator to show him the way out!

When is the partnership started with EDS. June 2002, Ha this is something wrong and if not then earlier of 2003 then it could be wrong and may be right and during this time the operator EDS was with SPU and SPU had terminate them and they got no way to place the student then look for AU and did a total transfer credit or buying the diploma from AU. The incoporated dated was 30 MAY 2002 and if AU telling people that the partnership was started in MAY 2002 then this is something questionable, if fall in Aug 02 it sound no logic because it was just a begining and if the partnership started earlier 2003 then it is very suspecious that these group of students was just direct credit transfer and no questions ask. Personally I suspect that the university not even see the students works and then just issue the XXX. How come the student can complete the PhD less then the timing requirement from AU website and how come so huge? 52 students

What I find kind of remarkable is Dr. Capogrossi telling us that despite Akamai offering many advanced degrees in all aspects of the humanities, Profs Seddon and Flaxman waven't taught classes or advised students. But in 2003, only a year after Akamai's 2002 Hawaii business incorporation, it was already graduating 52 brand new MBAs over there in Malaysia.

That certainly has implications regarding institutional priorities.

When new universities file incorporation papers, does that mean that they are instantly up and running? Or does incorporation just create a legal foundation from which to start the work of building a new institution?

These 52 students do sound like they were enrolled with some preexisting entity and affiliating with the brand new Akamai simply provided the necessary off-shore degree-granting powers.

 

Off course those students were imported from another diploma mill and Dr. C could shed light on whch one!

10 x 5 credits = 50 credits ...I thought in US courses are either 1, 2, 3 or 4 credits.

DBA= 10 modules x 16 hours = 160 Hours of seminar study plus 20 lunches and 40 tea/coffee breaks..

10 x 5000 words = 50,000 words for DBA..hummm good amount of words..

 

I don't think the number of contact hours are any different to what most US, UK, or Australian universities are offering through their local agents in Malaysia and in other Asian countries.

However, the assessment tasks for the unaccredited programs are very light on in the words department ..and you can also imagine in the quallity department as well.

 

So what is the answer to the mystery of the fast tracked Akamai graduates? Simply what has been said; these students had been 'transferred' from another unaccredited program offered by Dr Lee. And why Akamai? Why not continue with the previous school? Because Akamai looked to be a more credible institution, under the leadership of the real doctor Capagrossi.

That was probably so at the time, however, once Akamai come within the orbit of Dr Lee and his kind, then that was the end of Akamai's credibility. Back to their same old tricks - pay for degrees with no class attendance and so on- all the tricks that are practiced by most agents for unaccredited schools.

And in many cases, it is easy to practice these tricks as the providers are often the actual owners of the school!

 

I don't think my criticism of Dr Lee and his program should be taken as a blanket condemnation of his or other unaccredited education providers.

I see (from my own sources) that some of Lee's faculty have good accredited degrees - even to doctoral level- and some of the his faculty also teach for accredited university programs within Malaysia.

In other words, in many of these unaccredited programs, students are receiving some very good instruction through lecturers who are serious and dedicated to their task. In some of the programs, although the assessment tasks may be light on, the lecturers do require a certain level of quality.

All these issuesregarding accredited and unaccredited education may seem simple in advanced countries where the ooportunities are available for good quality and affordable education. However, in underdeveloped and developing countries, where places in the loca universities are often non existent, or the quality of education is so poor or behind the times, that students are forced to seek out alternatives.

The alternatives may not be up to accredited standrads in Western countries, but they are often a darn sight better than what the student can get in their own country.

Why do Malaysians, for example, still persist in buying Proton cars; many of each have been in production for over 15 years and are of doubtful quality? Because they are cheap and many cannot afford the alternatives - imported cars! The same may be said for their continued patronage of unaccredited education.

Maybe these issues need to be discussed in a less partisan forum. This may not sound a fully 'enlightened' view, but one, I believe, worth discussing in the coffee shops...

 

How do you get the information of the AU-EDS lecturer profile. It look very suspecious that you are from insider. The EDS web link from AKAMAI had been abolish and you are a late comer.

I am not defending anyone; just responding to a post that asked if anyone knew about the lecturers of Dr Lee. I have made my comments about Lee's lecturers and other related issues.

Thank you. You r a good supporter of AU. We also a good supporter of AU and that's why we r here. A mill machine had started with a milling process and it become hotter and following it melt after 3 years and it following said No our machine had operate follow the Operation Procedure and it won go wrong. And the owner still insist they had all the quality assuarance from this member and that member where some had been expire but still using to show to the customer. And eventually it found that it wasn't the problem of the membership but the speed had been added without taking a proper instructionand guidline and it blow out and then start to said you are making big mistake, am I asking you to do this to show to people that based on the incoportaion + membership to tell the client we got a fantastic quality and that but before the owner had forgot that he had enjoy a huge productivity in just a few month and had raise for more then what he had expected for the return without concerning the quality of the output and eventually all gone. The client started to questions the quality and then ask for rework (after 44 days and a half day) due to the 60 Days money back guaranteed and to those had been receive the products after 60 days the operator will tell them sorry the guarantee period had over please come next time. If you wish to get another good milling product we will inform you sooner due to we had another machine is pending to start milling production again. We had to check whether the old milling machine still able to work or not after overhaul.
