Hey I'm new to this site but I think I've found something that you guys might be interested in.

    http://www.aib4u.org/

Is this a diploma mill or not?

Next I have to ask; Does industry notice these diploma mills? Do company's HR departments request proof from theses fake universities or do they just accept a copy of a degree from the employee?

Last I saw an article on this site about Thomas Edison State College; about working its portfolio program. Some one please tell me this is not a dilpoma mill, I'm about to get my degree at this college.

    :(

Any institution I've ever seen that mentions "Life Experience" as a big sale point is a diploma mill.

Thomas Edison is a real school and not a diploma mill.

Claims that degrees are awarded by Cambridge International University, which claims accreditation from Global Accreditation Organization for Life Experience and Education.

GAOLEE (I like the acronym - connotations of prison) claims to accredited scores of institutions, but the only ones that even acknowledge its existence are Cambridge International University and the American Institute of Business.

Oregon's Office of Degree Authorization states that Cambridge International University

They also offer some great package deals.
Their FAQ page has some nice quotes.
    and

I would stay as far away from this place as possible.

    LeRoy,

Why would you ask these questions back to back? And never mind HR depts. do you request proof that any of this is valid? Avoid this.

"Cambridge International University is also internally accredited. Internal Accreditation means that the Board of Directors holds the responsibility of developing, maintaining and enforcing its own high quality of standards for prior learning and experiential evaluation-based degree programs."

    Just silly!

You can also check the SAUVCA and SAQA websites and see that the South African government gives no recognition of any sort to this outfit.

Galanga pointed this one out a couple of months ago. The search function works reasonably well here. He wrote:

"The "Global Accreditation Organization for Life experience and Education" (GAOLEE) is an unrecognized accreditor that has been kicking around for a few years. Its "list of accredited institutions" includes Glencullen University and Harrington University, both of which were branded as diploma mills in the injunction ordering their sites closed by the FTC a couple of years ago. Another yowie-wowie accredited by GAOLEE is "Cambridge International University."

The IP address for GAOLEE is 207.234.146.57; this IP also houses other unwonderful entities such as two sites for the American Institute of Business. And, not surprisingly, the IP address for Cambridge International University is also 207.234.146.57."

As a life member of Mensa, consider complaining to the folks in charge that the monthly magazine, Mensa Bulletin continues to print ads from bad and fake schools, even after detailed evidence is provided to them. Really doing the members a disservice.
