That assessment feels about right, Jack, Lerner's protests not withstanding. There is nearly no other possible explanation for Lerner answering a post clearly directed at Azad.

vBulletin plants a cookie in the browser of anyone who logs in and, if not manually logged-out from before closing said browser, remembers, next time that same browser hits this site, how this site had last been logged-in to. That's how it's able to say "Welcome back Soandso" in the upper right corner of the main page whenever we return.

I'd say, if I had to guess, that Jack's right on on this. Lerner last logged-in as "Lerner" and then forgot to log-out before closing his browser. Then, when next Lerner opened his browser and pointed it at these forums, the cookie in his browser told these forums that it was Lerner returning; and maybe Lerner didn't notice that it said "Welcome back Lerner" in the upper right corner of the main screen. Thinking, for whatever reason, that he was logged-in as "asakazad," Lerner then read my posting, above, and, as is usually the case when he reads my postings, he got all worked-up and, in his haste to reply, he didn't pay attention to which identity he was logged-in as... either that, or he simply forgot to first logout as "Lerner" and then log back in as "asakazad" before posting his reply to my remark directed not at Lerner, but at asakazad.

This doesn't surprise me. Lerner's never impressed me as being particularly quick on the upbeat. This is about his speed, I'd say.

I further say that we don't let Lerner easily wiggle out of this. I sure wish I could see the server log so I could see the IP addresses from which Lerner and asakazad logged-in in the relatively recent past. That would settle the matter in a big hurry.

Regardless, I still say I'm onto something with the whole brain tumor thing.

 

I'm just getting a little chuckle out of imagining Lerner's a__hole slamming shut as he began to realize what happened; and how he must have been cursing the 10 minute edit/delete timeout that Chip has set. Oh, gosh... this is entertaining!
