On Knightsbridge University's site they tout a military studies program. After reading about it "elsewhere," I decided to take a look for myself. The webpage for this program looks like someone decided to create his own program and run it under KU's auspices. It doesn't jibe with the rest of that operation. (Mainly because it seems to actually exist.) I also read on the site a quote from Charles Moskos, the leading military sociologist, endorsing the program. I'd read somewhere else that this endorsement was in question, so I thought I'd ask Dr. Moskos himself. Here's the "endorsement" on KU's website:

    Moskos Endorsement

"Knightsbridge University's Master of Arts in
Military Studies course is a splendid academic program
designed for the mature student. The reading list is
very impressive and covers a multi-disciplinary
approach to military studies, including military
    philosophy, history, sociology, psychology,
    asymmetrical warfare, and military/civil relations.
The English-speaking faculty currently consists of
accomplished scholars and former senior military
officers from the US, Canada, Russia, Hungary, India,
Romania, Turkey, Bulgaria, Italy, Chile, Greece and Germany.
Most have doctorates and all are experts in their
fields of study. What they offer is state-of-the-art,
challenging, intensive, multi-national, and unique. I
highly recommend this Military Studies program

    Dr Charles C. Moskos"

The program is run by a Roger Thompson. I asked Dr. Moskos if that was his endorsement. His reply to me tonight:

Rich, interesting letter. Some time back, I was asked to give an endorsement of Knightsbridge by Roger Thompson. I do not know Thompson personally, but he has written some good military sociology (mainly dealing with the Navy). Think I told him he individually has my endorsement. But, I did not write the blurb you sent me. First time, I saw it!

    Charles Moskos

The program might exist, but the endorsement is a lie.

If memory serves, Thompson posted here for a while.

Thanks, Rich, for the conclusive information.

I will cross reference this to the military studies thread if it's not already.

By the way, the clucking has already begun elsewhere. Someone posting as Thompson (it could be him, of course) claims he wrote the endorsement and Moskos approved it. That should be sufficient, but the personal attacks are already being launched.

Funny that the only aspect of Knightsbridge that even looks like it has substance turns out to be run by a sub-contractor and uses an endorsement the endorser didn't write (and denies).

So I take it that Dr. Neil Hayes Ph.D. is buying into the lies being spread on the other forum?

I'm still waiting for him to apologize for calling me a liar when I said that I never called CCU a diploma mill. Perhaps he just forgot? Maybe he will repond with his apology to this post? Oh wait, his opinion was based entirely on what others posted on the other forum. So I guess that he has to continue believing the lies told on the other forum or he'll have to admit (again) that he's an academic fraud with a(nother) diploma from a diploma mill. :p

In the interest of balance -- the premise of this thread was challenged here by the party concerned:

Specifically, Roger Thompson posted these two emails:

    weighed in the balance...

Thank you, Quinn. It does balance things to know that Dr Moskos' latest word on this is that he endorsed a program of which he says
"But, truth to tell, I know hardly anything at all of the Knightsbridge program."

Which is, of course, exactly what he told me (and I posted on this forum) back in October of 2004.
