On May 11, The Law Newspaper presented an article naming: "Diploma mills from Wyoming" to descript about activities of PUT in Vietnam. It's pity that the article is only available in Vietnamese, so I'd like to summarize few main points:

    - PUT is excessively carrying out the program leading to the award of BBA, MBA & DBA in major cities of Vietnam. Anybody who does not have a Bachelor degree is welcomed to the MBA program provided that they have few years of working experiences.
    - As an agent disclosed, no one fails in the MBA program. The agent also said PUT is considering the possibility to conduct the program in Vietnamese in order to let anybody who does not know English to seat in the program.
    - PUT has affiliated with some local private institutions to provide the BBA program. Prospective students must complete the two years program with these institutions first. Then they could study 8 courses with PUT to get the PUT's BBA degree (PUT charges 300$/course). The funny thing is that all courses are conducting in Vietnamese by Vietnamese lecturers and even graded by these lecturers as well.
    - An assumption about the possibility in which PUT is the successor of SPU (Southern Pacific Univ, closed by Hawaii court) is also made since the signature on the sample degree of both schools is exactly same (Saleem H Zaidi).
    - During few years operating in Vietnam, PUT & SPU has awarded hundreds of MBA degree.

Thourgh this article, I really believe that PUT is a diploma mill. They even sell their name for money.

    more about the president

Saleem H Zaidi's profile on the PUT site says he's been the chief scientist at "Gratings, Inc." since 2000. It's a small company in New Mexico, in operation since 2000. So the fellow has a day job.

    Newspaper apologize to PUT

The same newspaper today apologize to PUT for the wrong information about PUT and SPU.

The article today is about Akamai University and ACU.

Seems interesting and soembody is behind the movement.

An equiry with PUT agent in Hanoi about the MBA program and was informed that PUT is not accredited or recognized by US and VN government.

The student has to make their own judgement when enroll to this program.

    Where is SCUPS and CPU

    Steve;

In the articles, FIVE universities are reported. All these FIEV are unaccredited namely PUT, SPU, Akamai, ACU and CCU.

I just wonder why the reporter does not also expose soem otehr universities that are unaccredited but also operate in Vietnam. They are Southern California University of Professional Study (SCUPS), Central Pacific University (CPU) and Pacific Western University. (PWU)

Any special reason or they are accepted by VN government?

    Just curious as a foreigner.

the stench of nostalgia, or, haven't we heard this all before?

What we have here is an unrefreshing refresher of DEZINFORMATSIYA targeted at Mr Kurdzin. A review of earlier posts by Ian Gordan (sic) and candice-vn will show a consistent pattern of unsubstantiated charges, personal attacks, and xenophobic hysteria, laced with a dully predictable anti-American agitprop.

    Ho hum.

Don't you think that it is a uncomplete research if one just reported FIVE universities and intentionally leave out a few universities which are of same categogy and in oepration also at the same location.

It is either the research is not complete or it is done with purpose.

This is nothing to do with anti-american. Please don't confuse the issue.

    Steve, please tell us why.

    Uncle Junko,

Based on your theory that "You can often judge a person by the calibre of his enemies."

"Mr Kurdzin must be a fine fellow."

So all the unaccredited universities that he reported are BAD guys. PUT, SPU, Akamai, ACU and CCU.

    Poor logic, Mr Gordan.

Now, which mill are you trying to defend? What boss are you trying to impress? You and Candice work as a team, but that won't work here. It might shock you to realize that most of us don't wait with bated breath to read articles in an VN paper. So I can only conclude that you report back to someone and brag about how you let Mr Kurdzin (and me) have it.

As I say, that won't work here. You grouse about (ostensibly) incomplete research in an article none of us has much cause to read. You want us to affirm your grousing. Why? So that the outfit for which you shill can say "Looky here! Degreeinfo sided with us!"? So that you get a shiny red star in your copybook from your employer?

As a genuine Scot famously wrote some time ago, "the man of independent mind--
he looks and laughs at a' that."

Mr Kurdzin isn't very interesting, but your crystal-clear motives certainly are, as a cursory search of all your posts reveals to any disinterested observer.

    Ho hum.
