They take a gratuitous shot at Bruce Lee (who, I believe, also took the martial arts very seriously).

Yes, as a JKD student I would have to take offense there but it is typical of the Yip Man, William Cheun mainstream. Bruce was brilliant but he was all for mixing styles, something these guys would really hate.
But, "legit" as in GAAT?

Clearly his MA credentials are beyond reproach but the above article makes it sound as if his own doctoral degree was honorary.
I don't know anything about the State University of Plovdiv or the State University of Bulgaria. The website says that students "attend lectures" at the school but it's not really clear what that means. The one page that I read doesn't really specify the degree requirements, the curriculum, the instructors, etc. so it's hard to say that this is "legit." On the other hand, it's clear that Kernspecht's legit (as a MA master). Based on currently available information I am deciding not to decide.

The MA stuff does look pretty good. The Doctorate seems awfully sketchy. Sad, and typical these days, really.
