    As in Martial Arts...

Folks, I believe that with the possible exception of the Alternative Health field, no other field of endeavor has produced quite as many absolute BS fake "doctors" that the martial arts...

A simple Google search of something like "Ph. D. in Martial Arts" or "Doctorate in Martial Arts" produces such a ridiculous flood of nonsense that it makes me personally embarrassed.
I’m thinking of doing a serious research project about this. It’s like a rat infestation!

Here is a great website that discusses the problem in a brief manner. They don’t list Bridgeport’s legit RA Martial Arts BA. But the endnotes are pretty cool.

I was sad to see the late Brendan Lai listed as claiming a Doctorate from the "Eurotechnical Research University". This man, like our "Mr. T" in other recent posts, was a well respected member of the martial arts community. In fact, he was a Black Belt Magazine Hall of Fame member.

Here are a couple of the less-than-wonderful institutions...

And here’s how the worthless degrees are used. Granted, it's Pakastan, but folks just don't seem to question this kind of crap.

And there are so many, so many "Doctors". How many are legit? ...

You get the idea. And it goes on and on. I mean, you need a license to CUT HAIR. If an industry is SCREAMING for government regulation (not that I would actually want it), the martial arts is certainly loud enough.

This question is NOT in regards to any kind of martial arts degree or affiliation... When dealing with fraudulent academic degrees, should it be legal, to use absolutely false academic creditials to draw adults and children to enroll in an educational (or even quasi-educational) institution such as a martial arts studio?
Please, no long diatribes about style and other such stuff. Just the academic part.
