Has anyone ever heard of this organiztion? I have a student trying to get in our MBA program who is fighting w/ me about it, and it clearly says "non-governmental" He went to "national bible college" and "international bible college and seminary" I don't see where either school is accredited by an organization recognized by the DOE http://www.ibcsnet.com/ http://www.nbcbible.org/ http://accreditnow.com/ I tried to call the accreditig council, and was told by DR Schoell to "look at our website, and don't call me again..." He should stick to making shoe inserts apparently
According to Josh Walston's Guide to Christian Distance Learning (1999), pp. 38-39, there was once an unaccredited accrediting agency called the International Accrediting Commission which was shut down after it "accredited" a fake school created by the Attorney General of Missouri known as the East Missouri Business College. School officials included "Peelsburi Doughboy" and "Wonarmmed Man," and their marine biology textbook was "The Little Golden Book of Fishes." Having been shut down, the IAC left Holden, Missouri for Beebe, Arkansas, where they became the Accrediting Commission International (ACI).
Here's the full story, as I wrote it for University Business magazine: http://www.quackwatch.org/04ConsumerEducation/dm3.html For the record, once again, Dr. Scheel has publicly and vigorously denied that he ever offered immediate ACI accreditation to members of the disgraced IAC organization. I have a copy -- two copies, in fact -- of the letter Scheel sent making exactly that offer to member schools. I believe the technical term here is "Liar, liar, pants on fire."
Hi Jimmy, I know it's Scheel, but he pronounced it "Schoel" (I should have made that clear the first time sorry) And I know the comment was rude, but he was rude to me over the phone. The person that suffers here is the student that was trying to start an MBA to find out that his BA is unacredited. And I doubt they have a PR department, all I did was call and ask the receptionist "are you recognized by the US DOE?" and she then stated that Dr. Scheel (and pronounced it Schoell) would call me back. He did shortly after and told me to look at their website, and to not conact them anymore. I am not sure if they have a PR department, but that would have nothing to do with the fact that they couldn't answer a simple question. Any legitimate accreditor would be able to simply answer the question (if you were to call TRACS for example)
It looks like I owe you an apology. I didn't know he pronounced his name that way. I talked to him a couple of times about 12 or so year's ago and don't remember him pronouncing it that way. You weren't rude. He is a very rude man and quite the smart alec! Take care!
No apology necessary Dr. Clifton, I just feel really bad for the student in this case. He was extremely distressed that he had spent roughly 4 years getting a BA and MA from those schools, and couldn't understand why we wouldn't accept his credits normally, and they would have to go through prior learning assessment. And Dr. Bear, thank you for the great information as always, I was able to use it to help explain things to the student.
Re: Re: Aci If you think their President's name is funny, note also that the secretary's name is Mills.
