    Hi all,

IIRC, there are some on this board that have done work for a university in getting it ready for RA accreditation. If any of you read this, I'd love some advice.

I just got tasked today with verifying the academic credentials for a whole slew of our faculty. Basically, the accreditation team noticed, for example, some prof who is teaching economics, but holds a Ph.D. in child psychology or something like that. So, what this boils down to, does he have a master's in econ. In other words, does the degree held match the curriculum of the classes taught. Simple enough.

In my unit, though, it gets more difficult. The vast majority of our teachers teach English as a Foreign Language (EFL). There are very, very few degrees that are titled as such. Usually they are master's in applied linguistics, education, adult education . . . I could go on and on. In other words, in this field, most often, the title of the master's degree does not give an indication of the focus of the degree (heck, most don't know what mine means: Multilingual/Multicultural Education).

So, my question is, what, exactly, is SACS looking for? I'm assuming they want copies of transcripts. But, do they also want some kind of HR verification or evaluation along with this? I'm just trying to get a handle on exactly what I need to do, so I don't end up doing the job twice.

And, yes, I have tried finding out through my uni -- problem is, I haven't been able to track down yet a)those that are in charge of the push for SACS, or b)who wrote the bloody report that this has to be done. Typical.

I'll keep trying on my end, of course, but I thought in the meantime, I'd check the illustrious body of knowledge on here.

    Thanks for any help.

    Cheers,
    Adrienne
