Aren't AACRAO and NAFSA reliable evaluator agencies?

Is ACAC http://www.acacorp.org really recognized by AACRAO and NAFSA?

After Sheila Danzig admitted in an interview with Education Week reporter Andrew Trotter (May 5, 2004) that "her company receives a fee, paid by Saint Regis, every time CCI evaluates the academic credentials of one of its students. She also said she was a paid consultant to Saint Regis as recently as two years ago..." the entity "ACAC" was created, and staffed by two SRU professors.

Pretty brazen, isn't it?

 

It is important to recognize that membership in AACRAO, which is available simply by joining, has nothing to do with AACRAO's evaluation services. Unfortunately at least two so-called evaluation services have joined AACRAO and have been using AACRAO's name to promote their own services, claiming that the entities they approve are therefore approved by AACRAO. AACRAO is taking legal action to protect its reputation against these hijackers.
