Does anyone on the list know anything about an entity called Warnborough College, which formerly called itself Warnborough University until the British government caught up with it? It claims to be a UK degree-granter but has been unable to prove this, since the list of training providers on which it is shown includes non-degree suppliers as well. I know that it has also operated, perhaps briefly, in Australia.

Anyone ever had any contact directly with the entity?

It apears that hey are still operating in Australia.

1985 - a study abroad program in Australia for American students.

    Study Abroad Programmes since 1985

In 1985 Warnborough sponsored its first study tour to Australia. These were hosted at Australian Universities and provided an opportunity for American students to acquire a truly Australian living and learning experience. These study-tours have proved most popular among American colleges and university students. They were able to spend study time in ACT, NSW and Queensland, and free time enabled them to visit other states. In 2003-4, our Study Abroad programmes at Australian universities will provide even further study opportunities for American and other overseas students.

Students enjoying themselves on the Australian Study Abroad Programme.

    Canberra welcomes Warnborough students

    Premier of Queensland
The Premier of Queensland, the Hon. J. Bjelke-Petersen responded enthusiastically to Warnborough's Australian Studies Programme and through the agency of Father Richard Martin, presented a volume to the Warnborough library. In return, the Premier was pleased to receive and wear the Warnborough tie. The Royal Geographical Society also entertained students.

    Recognition in Australia
Warnborough University has had its credits and degrees accepted in Australia by industry and universities. It has a growing Alumni Association of professionals in a wide variety of fields. Branches are being established in NSW and Queensland.

    This tels all.

Incorporation in the Republic of Ireland
In early 1997, Warnborough University incorporated in the Republic of Ireland as a global university. As a private self-validating institution it awards degrees fully compliant with all relevant legislation in the Republic of Ireland. It is not regulated by the formal higher education system in the Republic of Ireland and receives no state funding. It was not incorporated as an Irish university and makes no claims as such.

Warnborough University is not a UK university and does not award UK degrees.

    They don't have recognized accreditation.

But when I read about their history if this is correct, they may be good quality unaccredited school.

But because they are unaccredited how can I know of their quality.

30 + years , who are the graduates?

I'm not sure if this will match type 1 or type 2 mill.

    Recognised and Accredited Courses
Warnborough prepares students for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and the Association of International Accountants (AIA). These qualifications are recognised in the European Union and worldwide. Similarly, these qualifications are accepted for advanced placement for entry into degree programmes at Warnborough University and at British universities.

    a lovely phrase

I do so love that phrase: it rings alarm bells, raises red flags, makes the hair on the back of the neck come to attention. It has the convincing sound of Mr. Schmaltztov writing to request bank account information in order to give me 30% of the $42,000,000 in the account of a deceased Elbonian archduke.

    I say feh!

Warnborough seems to currently be doing business under two names.

    Warnborough College:

    http://www.warnborough.ac.uk/

Apparently the 'college' is now operating as a British further education college of some kind, and doesn't offer degrees.

Simultaneously, Warnborough University remains busy offering university degrees from Canterbury England on the basis of an Irish business registration:

I get the impression that the 'college' is a post-secondary vocational school of some kind that isn't permitted under British law to grant degrees. The 'university' is one of those weird stateless things that have grown like toadstools and now infest the UK since that country passed its higher education "reform" (?!) legislation.

I don't know, perhaps they are trying to be cute, granting their degrees through the 'university', but directing skeptical attention to the 'college' which might have slightly more British recognition.

I've been writing about them for years in Bears' Guide. I mention that their promotional CD was and is the most misleading piece of school marketing I've ever seen/heard. At one time, they rented a building that had once been used by Oxford University. And so (a brief excerpt from their CD):
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Like Oxford itself, Warnborough College is steeped in tradition. The college’s historic campus sits on Boars Hill, with an imposing view overlooking Oxford’s dreaming spires. It is here on Warnborough’s terraced lawns that some of this century’s great innovators have conceived great thoughts. Mahatma Gandhi, Bertrand Russell, Albert Einstein, Madame Curie, Bernard Shaw, H. G. Wells, Gilbert Murray, and many others, have all walked the halls, and found a place of inspiration amongst Warnborough’s 13-acre woodland campus."
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Attorney General of the State of Washington successfully sued them, showing that a bunch of Washington residents enrolled, actually believing that Warnborough College, Oxford was a part of the University of Oxford.

It is apparently owned by the Tempest-Mogg family in Australia, and is (or has been) run, in the UK, by Julian Ng, with whom I had a polite but guarded talk when I visited their one-room (but it was a large room) campus in London a few years ago. (They have since moved.)
