Not only do they perform their own credential evaluations, they also award their own life-experience degrees.

    http://www.cufce.org/services.html

    Services Offered:
    • _______To evaluate foreign academic credentials and professional experience.
    • _______To do 24 hour diploma evaluation.
    • _______To issue U.S. equivalency diplomas.
    • _______To award U.S. equivalency academic credits for work experience. _Three years of full time work experience is
the equivalent of one year full time university credit units.
    • _______To award the U.S. equivalency Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science _degrees to vocational or Associate in
Arts graduates with broad professional experience.

The California BPPVE search page has no record of them. (And California doesn't approve life-experience degree programs anyway, absent a religious exemption.) It's illegal for a private post-secondary educational institution not accredited by WASC to grant degrees in California unless it's CA-approved.

It looks to me like these people are trying to be cute. They are ambiguous about whether they are really granting degrees, or just diplomas that say that somebody has the equivalent of a degree. And they don't offer post-secondary instruction, just evaluations. My guess is that they would argue that these things make them something other than a post-secondary educational institution and hence immune from the BPPVE's jurisdiction.

The Association of American Universities (AAU) is a legitimate organization comprised of sixty or so of the most research-intensive universities in North America. Here's a link to their website:

    www.aau.edu

The "Association of American Universities Foreign Credential Evaluation, Inc." seems to be a soundalike entity.

AAU has contacted CUCFE/Amorsolo to ask them to remove any and all references to "AAU Accreditation" from their website.

The same is true of the claim that CUCFE is a member of NAFSA: Association of International Educators. NAFSA, founded in 1948 as the National Association of Foreign Student Advisers, is comprised of individual and not organizational members. NAFSA is looking into CUCFE's claims about their "membership" in that organization.

CUCFE/Amorsolo Foundation is directed by someone named Bettie Potts, Ph.D. They seem to be in the business of preparing "foreign credential evaluations" to meet certain U.S. visa requirements for immigrant Filipinos in the Los Angeles area.
