    ACU

Chasse ran American Coastline "University" until his death a few years ago. His son Jon (according to the Hawaii Office of Consumer Protection) sold ACU to Richard Hoyer.

I don't know what to make of this as it associates CALCampus with Harvard.

Is the acceptance of their classes in to RA schools real?

I can't see RA schools accepting their credits.

I can see someone using their training to prepare for challenge exam.

I don't know but am doubting a direct transfer of credits. They do warn to check first with the target school. Remember that they offer high school as well as college courses.

I did find an old and outdated document from them that addressed using their training as preparation for the CLEP exams with that being the route to gaining college credit. If your goal is to acquire college credit then I'm guessing, and only guessing, that test prep would be the best use of their courses. Of course, you can get as well their certificates or diplomas if those have value to you.

I'm glad you started this thread as I don't remember seeing CALCampus and my first impression is positive. If, that is, prospective students are clear as to the utility of the courses/programs.

  11. Response to Galanga Regarding Richard Hoyer and ACU

The following is what I know regarding Dr. Richard Hoyer and American Coastline University:

Dr. Hoyer was in the process of buying ACU six months after Ray Chasse passed away. He was even paying Jon and his mother's personal expenses and (home and utilities, paying the mailboxes etc. bill and fielding the mail). Dr. Hoyer began promoting ACU using his name and when the day came to consummate the deal, the Chasse's could not be reached by Dr. Hoyer.

When Dr. Hoyer was asked by Dan Taylor if he bought it, he told him no, "I can't get a hold of them and Daniel Taylor bought it". The Chasse family moved out of Louisiana to another state. Dr. Hoyer was out thousands of dollars out of pocket paying the Chasse's bills and Taylor moved it to Russia.

Re: Response to Galanga Regarding Richard Hoyer and ACU

Was this information transmitted directly to you from Richard Hoyer? If not, what is the source of it?

When did Taylor relocate to Russia?

    thanks-

  13. Dear Galanga,

I know Dr. Richard Hoyer personally, and he wrote me this evening and told me what happened. I posted it as I received it. I am amazed sometimes how rumors get started here and I just wanted to set the record straight.

  17. Dear Galanga,

I just learned from Dr. Hoyer that Danial Taylor moved to Russia and opened the Moscow office of ACU about a year or so ago. He began by becoming an IUFS affiliate under their license and since then has obtained his own Ministry of Education license and registration in Russia. Dr. Hoyer mentioned he has not spoken with him in eight months.

Just out of curiousity, why would anyone take classes at this scholl when they could earn credit at RA or NA schools for as little as $225 per class? I'm not knocking the school. They seem to be very upfront about their standing with regard to accreditation, I just don't understand why someone would pay the same or more for their classes as they would for an NA or RA class?.

Some people like the idea of taking exams at home and not having to look for proctor or drive to location.

The same people who take exams on line with Brainbench etc.

To me it's not clear if their credit is accepted by the RA schools they mention on their web site.

I read opinions but don't know the facts.

    Simply curious.

    Thanks

After leaving Pacific Western, Ray Chasse was involved with at least six other non-wonderful schools in addition to American Coastline.

Dominion University of Melchizidek (of which his friend Sheila Danzig was a dean)
American M & N University (whose slogan was the unintentionally hilarious 'An Alternative to Education')
    Al-Manaf International Islamic University
    Internet University
    Summit University
    Clayton University of Missouri

When I went to the campus--a tiny two-bedroom house in New Orleans--American Coastline was in one bedroom, Summit was in the other, and the rest of them were piled on a dining table in between.

To his credit, I am not aware that Chasse ever claimed accreditation for any of his institutions. Those many outrageous claims all happened after his death.
