    The one at this address...
    http://www.stgeorgeuniversity.edu/
    is "St. George University International"

It is NOT a UK university. On their website they state...
"SGUI is a private international university, and not a UK, USA or Japanese university and not accredited or recognized by any governmental ministry of education."

So right there they tell you that they are not recognized by ANY governmental ministry of education.

seems to be a medical school in Grenada.

    SGU.EDU IS LEGIT

The sgu.edu is a legit university which started as a medical school based on the US medical school curriculum in Grenada. Those of you who are students of history will remember that the United States invaded Grenada 20 some years ago to "rescue" medical students in Grenada (at St. George's University School of Medicine). I don't think you can score a more direct endorsement of the legitamcy of a school than a US Military Invasion?
More recently the island suffered a DIRECT hit with a hurricane (category 4) - Ivan.

The school continues to function 25 years after being founded. It now includes undergraduate, graduate, medical school and vet schools.

I am a proud graduate of St. George's University School of Medicine (SGUSOM) and have been licensed in the state of Pennsylvania since 1983.

For those who have young students interested in medical school or vet school, the University runs a summer "camp" program for both HS and college age students. Sounds interesting.

Thank you very much for the confirmation Karl. I was asking this because (1) I saw the US and UK toll free numbers there on the legit SGU website and (2) most importantly, I recently interviewed a job applicant and when I inquired where he got his degree he simply said "St. George in UK" and so I just want to clear things up. Thanks again Karl.

(I would definitely from now on expect legit and respectable SGU grads to say they graduated from "St. George in Grenada.")
    :)

    Regards,
    Ray

You don't say if the person with whom you were talking was medically qualified. If that was the case, then it is quite possible that he qualifed at St. George's Hospital Medical School in London.

George's (as it is known by those of us who work here) is a medical school that is part of the University of London. Although being south of the river in less than lovely Tooting, many people on the north side of the Thames would hardly even count it as being in the UK!

    Dear Greystead,

Thanks for the input. In fact, the credentials he quoted was "BSc in Exercise Science, St George University, UK."
I would say the word "Internationl" was hidden somehow.

    Thanks again.

Oops, my typo. The word "International" was not there and there wasn't the *'s* too --- it's St. George, not St. George's ...
