    Hi!

I've been searching this forum, and I was wondering if the following university--or perhaps diploma mill--has been discussed:
University of Professional Studies. Does anyone here have any information regarding this "internet university" or can any one here refer me to the Degree Info posting where this university is discussed?
I'm having some trouble finding it on my own. If not, what do you know about this university other than it seems to be licensed in the state of Alabama, yet they have a California mailing address. Their website is the following:

    http://www.ufps.edu

Thank you in advance for your replies!

It's definitely unaccredited, and has an odd entrance statement saying that "no high school age students accepted" and acutally recommends they go to a B&M school from ages 17-23.

Thank you for your replies! Based on what I've read on their website, I basically suspected that UFPS was either a degree mill or a marginal school. The replies here just confirm it.

The multiple state addresses--and what states, from a quality control viewpoint!--give the game away. Alabama and Montana are both notorious for nonexistent oversight. The numerous mistakes in English grammar and the grotesque unintelligibility of the pseudo-Latin motto are the faecal icing on the cake.

Unk dissed my state... Actually, despite the Arcadia CA PO box, the BPPVE has no record of this thing. But judging from the fact that they say that the Arcadia box is that of their "administrative services", I'd guess that the people running this are probably located in LA county.

A quick tour through Google did show that until recently this 'entity' (I like Alan C's word) was supposedly in South Dakota as well.

It's interesting that all three current "addresses" are post office boxes. Can anyone in their right mind imagine enrolling in and sending large sums of money to a "university" whose actual location is a complete mystery?

I don't think that Montana is all that lax. They rejected Columbia Commonwealth as I recall. I'd guess that like in California, this wonder hasn't actually received any legal recognition in Montana and is just using a mailbox there.

The people behind this might not be native English speakers and their target clientele is probably overseas.

Check out their description of the American higher education system. You will love it:

Weinen Sie nicht fuer mich, Kalifornien

Just so, Bill. Montana used to be lax; I am reminded that it was one of many stops in the postal peregrinations of Adam Smith (not the economist). I really didn't mean New Styria, Bill.* The BPPVE may not be all it could be, but it's not nothing.

*Busy Arnold! I notice your alma mater is now Universitaet Klagenfurt-am-See. As Cato once said sourly of Cicero, you have a hypatos geloios (a witty governor). However, the plan to bring over a spare Habsburg is on hold because Mexican-Americans are raising Cain--Maximilian and all that. Sounts like sour crapes to me, joa? Changing the nomenclature of school lunch "meat" from hot dog to wiener is a good idea, though (the old terminology could be misunderstood).

Ja! And a fine source of classical composers and psychoanalysts it is, too.

Our Kaleefornya Governator, powered by a DL bachelors degree, is fascinating to watch. Everyone figured that he wouldn't be up to his new role and would get eaten alive by the professional politicians infesting Sacramento. The opposition controlled both houses of the legislature and pretty much every major elected office. His predecessor had just been forced from office by a crisis that Arnold would have to manage, without the benefit of having his own allies in power.

But Arnold strode in, cigar clenched in his teeth, and completely dominated the place. Now the Democrats are complaining that the Governator is not only up to the job, he's so shrewd that he's always three steps ahead of them.

Arnold is still a larger than life action star, but he's finally doing academy award work in this, his biggest role.
