America City University is a fine young dogcloset of a goatbag. It describes itself this way:
    The "Teachers" link tells us
The "Exchange" link explains the ACU mission a bit:
The "Certification" page shows images of various documents. The ACU transcript from Li Qi's studies on display gives the ACU Registrar's address as 855 Village Center Dr., North oaks, MN 55127 USA. A check of phonenumber.com shows that there's a "Mail Boxes Etc." store at that address:

    Mail Boxes Etc-North Oaks
    855 Village Center Dr
    North Oaks, MN 55127
    (651) 483-2775

The ACU phone number given on its site is 626-582-8459 with fax number 626-582-4711. That's a California number.

There are 16 faculty listed on the site. The brief descriptions of their... backgrounds?... are hard to parse.

I am confident that ACU has nothing to do with Saint Regis.

Clearly marketed to Asians in Asia.

    The music is annoying.

There is a picture, supposedly of the school, here: http://www.acuniv-edu.org/exxjj.htm

I'm almost positive that's a picture of a City University (Bellevue, Washington) site. A little ways from Minnesota. Take a look at ACU's logo: http://www.acuniv-edu.org/index.htm and the real City University's at http://www.cityu.edu/

The site looks like it was written by someone without a clear command of common English.

I didn't let the browser load the Chinese pack, but I don't know that it would have done any good in interpreting the site, including its unknowable faculty. I do like what they call their faculty, "Teacher troops." Ten-hut!

I have to believe this is set up for no other reason that for some diploma mill marketers to point to. "See, we're a real American University!" I can hear them say. I doubt the site itself is a direct player in selling diplomas.

    Remarkable.

Prayer is probably the best thing to do if your aim is 'sea 100' but your permit is too big.

    That certainly clarifies things.

I knew that people in Minnesota talked funny. I saw 'Fargo', you betcha. But I never knew it was that bad.

I agree with Rich. It looks to me like this thing is being marketed to Chinese speaking people by Chinese speaking people, and the English (???!!!) website is just there for looks. If this is supposed to be an American university, people would expect to see English, even if they can't read it. Apparently the text was generated either by a computer translation program or by somebody who dozed through first semester English. My guess is that there is a companion Chinese website out there, perhaps belonging to somebody posing as this university's local agent.

    Unusual anatomy in coastal Massachusetts

The adjectival version of America City University has a partner mud weasel in Limerick. We should be able to have some sport with that... here is a minimal rearrangement of material from the Teachers troops America City University page. (Dang, I keep typing "American Coastline University.")

When I call the phone number, I get a fax tone.

When I call the fax number, I get a long silence, then one minute of a group singing in English ("You're on my mind...")

I find the university if what it claims to be true quite commical. Some time back I was told that Asians were registering unaccredited universities in the US and then marketing it back to their home countries by offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Pacific landers were then recruited to lecture at the Asian campuses as some had fantastic American accents. Of course, one campus was closed down when one Asian government clamped down on such practises. By as far as I know the university still exists but now offers up to MBA level. Because I was informed that it was relatively easy to set up a registered university in some states in the US this practice seems to be quite common.

However, as for the Chinese, their legitimate universities are developing so fast that in time they will play catch up with the Western ones just like their manufacturing industries. I just visited one and was impressed with their vigor and farsightedness. It is only a matter of time that these fly by night operations of so called universities will fly to no where land. It is also true that some of these institutions may have set up campus on the mainland to legitimise their operations as I have mentioned above. However, the saying Caveat Emptor applies here and universities are competing both from the West and East like commercial corporations. In time it is those institutions that really spend time on research and development are the ones that will make a mark. Not those that mint qualifications that develop no skill but blows hot air.

I also would not be surprised if the Chinese would one day play catch up with these institutions and develop their own to compete with those from the US and Europe both legit and questionable.

The problem with AC"U" is that there are two of them--apparently no connection.
