Here's more goatbag news for the young and restless.

The Saint Regis web site announces that

"The admissions office of St. Regis University is not accepting applications for enrollment in off-campus/distance or prior learning assessment programs. Re-accreditation of all Liberian universities is in progress, and announcements will be made upon completion. On-campus students may enroll for the Spring Quarter residential program Monday-Friday 10 AM - 4 PM Feb 7- March 7, 2005 at:

    St. Regis University
    Director Prince Porte
    Director Jallah Faciann
    Mechlin Street
    Behind Ministry of Education
    Monrovia, Liberia
    Phone : 011-231 6 513-793"

There is a member of the Liberian Council of Churches' Executive Committee named Prince Porte. In addition, The Perspective mentioned Mr. Porte as the new charge d'affaires at the Liberian Embassy in Washington, to take office after Aaron Kollie left a year ago. I don't think he ever actually moved into that position.

I wonder if Mr. Porte knows he is a Saint Regis director?

The SRU page no longer has a link to its twin James Monroe University.

The JMU home page features a "Winter Break Announcement":

"The online admissions office of James Monroe University will be closed for Winter Break while our campus moves to a larger and improved facility. Re-accreditation of all Liberian universities under new regulations is in progress, and is expected to be completed by the beginning of our Spring Quarter. Announcements will be made upon completion. On-campus students may enroll for the Spring Quarter residential program Monday-Friday 10 AM - 4 PM Feb 7- March 7, 2005 at:

    Mechlin Street
    Behind Ministry of Education
    Monrovia, Liberia
    Phone : 011-231 6 513-793"

Oh my godness, that's also the same phone number used by SRU! How curioius!

Bigger headquarters? maybe they are moving into Robertstown's Blenheim Castle? Let's see...

Holy Toledo! The Robertstown site also announces Winter Break! Here it is:

"The online admissions office of Robertstown University will be closed for Winter Break while our campus moves to a larger and improved facility. The re-accreditation of all Liberian universities under new regulations is currently in progress, and is expected to be completed by the beginning of our Spring Quarter. Please check back periodically for announcements. On-campus students may enroll for the Spring Quarter residential program Monday-Friday 10 AM - 4 PM Feb 14- March 14, 2005"

Gosh, what a coincidence! I would have thought that Blenheim Castle could have acomodated both operations. We'll just have to wait to find out, i guess.

Interesting that they use the term "Winter." Liberia is indeed in the northern hemisphere, but this is the nice (i.e. dry) season.

I grew up in the tropics (though not Liberia) and was frequently amused to receive Christmas cards with snowy scenes while I was sweltering in the tropical heat.
