Oh, my parents are so proud of me. I dropped a cv into the Trinity Southern University application form and went for broke, requesting a PhD in Mathematics.

Even before asking me to pay, TSU awarded my degree! Here's their email.
It's too bad that TSU seems to have evaporated all of a sudden. How will I ever get my diploma?

    all kidding aside

What I have is a letter telling me I have been awarded a PhD in Mathematics by TSU. (It is pinned to the wall of my cubicle for all to see!)

I figure that makes me a mathematician in the same way that watching Top Gun a couple of times makes me an F-14 pilot.

    Re: all kidding aside

I was a little worried. I figured this forum would eventually see a thread, started by you, in which you tell everyone that you were taken by TSU, pleading with everyone to give you the answer to make it all better.

I think I have seen that movie [Top Gun] enough times to qualify me as a Top Gun.

Well, now. Not so fast. Doubtless you DESERVE a Ph.D. in mathematics, no? And only petty DETAILS stand between you and what it rightfully YOURS, right? Like, oh, say 70 s.h. of coursework, two years of residency, and researching and writing a thesis that makes an original contribution and is of publishable quality, right?

    Heck, I'd go for it!

    galanga,

Your alma mater just made the news. Apparently your prestigious degree is in good company. Read the article.

What really bothers me is that the Trinity spams people using legitimate university servers such as Penn State University and University of Pennsylvania. By doing this, they make their spam look legitimate.

"Prosecutors said more than 18,000 illegal e-mails were sent out this year with links to Trinity Southern's Web address, including 300 that appeared to originate from the Internet servers of Pennsylvania companies and institutions.

Among the alleged victims are Penn State University and the University of Pennsylvania, as well as numerous Internet service providers, businesses and technology companies."

    TTFN ;)

That's it, though. Who was injured and can therefore sue? The cat is neither better nor worse off for having an MBA (with a 3.5 gpa, no less). Certainly the cat's owner knew what he was getting for the money...

I haven't yet figured out HOW to sue a diploma mill.

Regulatory agencies are a different matter, of course. They sue to enforce the law and their status gives them standing.

That link leads to Trinity Southwest University...Despite the fact it is another TSU, it's not Trinity Southern University, which is the "university" in question in this thread.

I doubt animals can get degrees from Trinity Southwest University...but I could be wrong.
